After seeing Cory say the Alpha team needs more planet names I've decided to submit some. Here's my list: Elyek, Bo'neer, Bob(Titan AE ref.), Padawan, Ohn, Borroon, Oahn, Zedda, Virrce, Orth.

The names of the settlements, the planets and the star should be differentiated. Usually in sci fi they ignore the Bd or Gilese cartographic codes and stick to stars with common names, like Epsilon Indi. Unless there is A specific settlement or planetary common name planets are specified in capital letters. Planetoids lower case. Moons are numbers. Example. The sun's catalogue name tends to be Sol depending on the catalogue. The star in a system is Sol Primary (prime). Earth is designated Sol C, us being the third rock from the sun. The moon, or Luna is Sol C1. Mars is Sol D and so on.
Its a bit of an overexplanation, but a single star system could have hundreds of seperate settlements and stations throughout it. Think in terms of an invasion force. D Day was the largest single military operation in history. And that was just to establish a beachhead on a couple of beaches in France. Imagine trying to eradicate an embedded xeno presence throughout the entire solar system.

So "hell in a hand basket" would be a veto

Just go with "Handbasket". The colonists will know what you meant.

You should be able to rename a colony if you establish it - that way if you decide on a whim that you are going to name each planet after a character from Stargate, you should be allowed to!
