I think if we had Ship Stats and a bit more detail on the Skills and what they do I think the help file would be pretty useful. Skills like Fencing... for clarification.

Fortescue- good questions and I have had many of those myself. From what I have gathered from the brothers Trese is that much of this information is intentionally hidden to reduce the amount of reading that we as players are subjected to. Personally I would prefer more of this information to be displayed, but ultimately it's their decision. I wouldn't give up on the game- I have spent many good days playing this one and while I would certainly enjoy reading what makes the game tick, I understand the need to simplify things so everyone can pick up the game and play. Hiding information from players which they need in order to make meaningful decisions is not good design. It should be accessible in a game document or a link to a wiki if people want to go look it up. I don't have time to perform 50 experiments in order to determine what stats actually do. Just found this thread. I disagree! Having to figure out game mechs increases longevity and is just plain fun.

Rawrk -About almost anything else, I bet I would agree with you I feel like many of these behind the scenes numbers aren't affecting the game enough to be noticed without hours of number crunching and experimentation. The biggest one I've been able to notice is how quickly the Knight rises through the ranks of promotion. Past that not really much stands out to me, and I've played this game more than I'd like to admit (lol I tell everyone who will listen about this game and how awesome it is!) All I'm asking for is a post in the forum that explains the stats that we don't see. I'm the kind of person who will weigh every option and consider every difference for an hour before even setting foot aboard the ship. I also think it's difficult to role play aspects of the game if we aren't sure what they are. I haven't played this game for some time now because I don't feel as immersed in it as I do HoS or ST, because of the lack of displayed information. This is not a criticism in any way- I've said it before and I'll say it again that this was the first TB game I ever picked up (And spent days playing). This is a humble plea for a greater depth of immersion into what this game hides beneath the surface.

While I am not disagreeing you, I also enjoy the upperhand when planning.battles but I find the mode of rules.and game play so appealing. It makes coming in the forums fun and having to delve and research through threads also occupies more time, which is the basis of a mobile game anyhow. But then if I wanted a more structured game, I'd invest more.time in ST but I'm so primitive in its.mechanics, I'd rather focus on AoP. At the sametime, AoP just sort of throws.you into the shit and expects you to swim....fast. That more.my style than opposite.
