Overly dense fog

I found a tile where the fog doesn't really want to clear. It's the black tile just to the right of my ship. The colony in the lower left corner is the topmost of the three "starter" colonies on the 36x36 map. 

It did finally clear once I moved the ship onto that tile.

Has happened to me once before, but I also noticed that systems cast a "shadow" behind them, so I thought that was intentional.

Yeah, I assume the casting a shadow is intentional (but not really realistic). But there's nothing to cast a shadow here.
