Flying Blind I have some real basic questions and a couple of requests. Let's say you are browsing
for a good 4x game but like myself have had no experience with the Star Traders Ship Designer.
I don't know what the heck I'm doing so please have mercy on the village idiot.
I researched up to Construction 3 and saw I could build a Wolf Cruiser. I had no idea what it could do but
a Xeno fleet was coming. I built 3 of them fast and just threw them into battle. I didn't know what
the asterisks in front of some of the ship details were but found out later in the ST 4x designer it had to do with
crew training. I don't know what the maximum number of training points is. I'm wondering if it is similar to HoS max 16 skills.
1. How do I know what the default type of armor, guns, torpedos, durability all the fields displayed here are?
When researching you see allot of different weapon, hull, mass, and engine types what am I getting for the money and time?
How do I know what is causing a durability of 8, or Shielding 3, or Guns 4? How does that stack up to an enemy ship?
When I arrived at the battle all I could do was fire torpedoes. Being able to invade the planet was a complete and happy surprise.
2. Could we add a two letter code for ship Class under Invasion training or somewhere else on the screen?
Currently there are 6 types of ships you can build. Fighter, Repair Fighter, Carrier, Cruiser, Battle cruiser,
and Heavy Carrier. I'm sure there will be many more types to come in the future. It is difficult from the name alone
to determine what type of ship you are looking at is. Is the Templar Defender a Cruiser? If I built my own with an imaginative name like Cadar Crusher, I might not remember what type of ship that is. Perhaps adding a letter code for ship type could help a guy like me.
For example: FG = Fighter. FR = Repair Fighter. CA = Carrier. CAH = Heavy Carrier. CR = Cruiser. BC = Battle Cruiser.
3. When building a ship at a colony could we see the ship details before purchasing?
Right now I need to go look at one I already built, or the ship designer to see the detail screen.
4. The Repair Fighter doesn't appear on colony build screen ? Is this because it is part of the Carrier Complement?
Otherwise how is the Repair Fighter refueled and repaired?
Thanks for taking a look at the post.
If I was a crew member under my command. I'd jump ship at the first port.
