So with the ship designer out, what is your dream ship within the limits established?

Hull: 15 Armor: 9 Engines: 42 + 13 = 55 Sails: 35 Crew: 57 Hold: 121 Guns: 17 + 3 = 20 Torps: 17
All I need to build this baby is the Master Contractor award (and the Wealthy Trader, but I already have that one).
I plan on duck taping some 11 more engines on this baby with Ancient Reactors and Titan Components. If there's room, I might even super glue some Titan Gun Batteries, 2 more engines to this beast.
I might approach about 95% the speed of light changing from medium to short range.

I'm flying the Slayernz NR2 for a while now and it's absolutely perfect for my style of play: Hull 22 Armor 11 Engines 50 Sails 50 Crew 100 Hold 204 (including WF Tank, Cargo Hold+20%, Weapons Cabinet, WF Recycling Plant, and Cargo Pod+10). Guns 45 Torps 2 WF Consumption 0.87 Red, 0.00 Green I can haul for shortage, blockade for decades, scare the pajeezers out of Steel Song, and wreak havoc anywhere on the map without fear I'll run short of WF, power, or guns. This, my friend, is my version of Cat heaven. I'll admit that it's only marginally better than this cat heaven though ..

I play this beast in HARD. It is the best custom build you can get for Alien Hunting.
Hull: 25 Armor: 20 Engines: 50 Solar Sails: 50 Crew: 164 (after mods) Cargo Hold: 105 Guns: 29 Torp: 6 Speed: Fast Agility: Quick

Love being able to build my own craft to start. Still trying to get a perfect spy craft. But i usually start with 8 hull 4 armor 18 sails 16 engine 30 crew 30 hold 6 guns and 4 torps. Usual upgrades w/f weapons omni and others. Does well for attack or retreat. Good job guys

Mone is challenher mk 2 With Hull 22
Armor 14 Engined 53 Sails 51 Crew 105 with merc upgrade Hold 170 Guns 66 all on gun upgrade Torps 8 And escape pod Guns have better dmage than torp for me. But i keep on blowing em up with just 9 tactics Curretly on killing spree for 1117 kills on crazy

What is insane about 8 hull? Whether it's insane or not probably depends on the difficulty level. Basically someone with significantly higher Tactics and a lot of guns could blow his ship up in one turn... that would be my guess. 8 Hull is also expensive!

Upgraded with Battle Prow, Crew Xeno Suits, Mercs, Null Field Generator and Xeno Torps. If you can't tell from the upgrades, I'm trying to unlock the 100-hull Xeno award on Hard! In hindsight, 51 Guns is overkill and I am blowing up too many ships compared to the 34 Guns I had on Mk1. But then again, they may come in handy during an Alien battle. Now that I compare, my ships are actually quite similar to the Slayernz NR2, except for the upgrades. Brilliant minds think alike!
