Thanks for the recommendations. Dem holds are so big though!
Not that it probably makes that big of a difference. I'm almost roleplaying by choosing a Spy ship that is so tiny. Honestly, anything below 15 Hull, i.e.the Jango weight ships, just feels scarily vulnerable. Like one bad torp first round of combat could Game Over you. And smaller ships with <30 sail/engines seem easy to run down and board...in which case desperate, self-destructive ramming seeems like your best tactic so you can hull breach and use the escape shuttle.
Think maybe I'll purchase rather than trade-in. If the Jango1 is drawing more encounters then back to Tempus Fugit4Life. Rarely purchase rather than trade-in... does anyone stash ships and can explain why? I never saw the point really.

I stash ships in case my new purchase has unforseen issues (like 'crap without upgrades syndrome') or if I get a surprise Hulling.

Stashed ships make the best caches. I've been known to buy giant hold ships, upgrade cargo size then stash them on Indy worlds with plenty of WF and other goodies. Buy a cheap shuttle and return to where I left one of my main ships.

the idea behind this desing was to have a very small ship with enough punch to survive a long time while increasing strength at level 4. For some weird reason i decided to aim for a round 30 engine, despite knowing that >=30 engines no longer has an effect on WF consumption, i just wondered if having 30 engines was somehow magically relevant for combat. Playing on Crazy this ship enable my gun bunny pirate to reach strength 150 at level 4: cargo hold, weapon cabinet, WF tank, Titan Components, Hyperion Superstructure. I try to run or gun aliens, and kill everyone else with any excuse for xp gain: level higher than mine, solar war, trade war or just because they are faction ships. The great catch about this ship is that at level 4 the contracts are very easy, especially for a ship on this class.

Here's a new one I've been using with fun and success in my first successful (?) Crazy run. I'm a Javat homer lol This is for a MO who is based largely off the Legendary Brother Derwin. It's a warship, but one I can still multi-task with. I built it for around 1.1mil as a third ship I could just handle at the time, with longevity and room to grow as my captain did. I also am playing a very aggressive campaign so I needed it for what was starting to be sent after me. I'm not good at reverse math, sorry, but here's her final stats. It's deliberately Med/Quick by design, barely under Fast, as I knew I could bury the bonus with upgrades. I like having the cushion on bonuses!
Jade Sun Rising Hull 28 Armor 12 Engines 57 Sails 62 after 25% Advanced Sail Systems Crew 169 after +20/30% Battleship Upgrade Cargo 180 after + 20% Cargo Hold Guns 34 Torps base 14, 18 after Prow Torp Upgrade Additional: Captain wears Hyperion Exo Suit
Made her to draw LOTS of attention, yet I've been surprised how well she's done spying. I tried it thanks to dear SS providing me a beautiful belly full of Electronic mischief. Somehow at 40 Electronics and 55 Weapons at all times I can still get Records. And when I do get found...muhahaha Anyway this captain has made a better run than any. Which is largely due to you AND your fast and accurate advice dear fellow Traders. I exalt all of you! P.$. Got money... super-spy attempt coming soon!

Fresh off the assembly line at Tucanae Javat Mining! I like how ship designer prices vary based on which planet you're at, in-line with the in-game pricing btw! Here's my first first go a spy ship. I like flexibilty and access to bonus where possible, and I tried to plan for the upgrade I would add. I wanted one hull smaller but I didn't like the look of the result as I want to be able to fight and still multi-task a lot, and have better base stats to upgrade into bonus land. The crew count terrifies me, and we had an escape shuttle available here at Tucanae doo is gone in already. I'm floating above Tucanae Javat ready for her maiden voyage to collect upgrades and stashed Electronics.
Zeta Tucanae Ecilpse Hull 16 Armor 10 Engines 41 Sails 42, will add 25% Advanced Sails Crew 67! Cargo 118, will add, will add records hold and wf tank I think Guns 22 Torps 18 - will add Omni-Stealth
My Military Advisory Officer thinks I'm crazy. My Templar, my Vet and I are licking our chops!

Maybe this will satisfy the Admiral. As I'm in marathon mode and still doing well in this campaign, I've made my first Xeno Hunter. Don't really need to explain what it's for or why I loaded it thus really other than to say I favor things labeled anti-Xeno and try to listen to Corey.
Tucanae Majoris Xenocide Hull 28 Armor 18 Engines 57 Sails 51 Crew 160 + 15 pissed off Shalun mercs = 175 Cargo 160 Guns 45 Torps 35 +2 Xeno Predator = 37 -Null Field Generators -Hyperion Exo-Suit - last slot undecided, will update.
Hyperion Daemonic Nebulae is calling...

I never said I disliked Cadar. They've been rather cooperative in the past. I was simply stating that I trust our superior Thulun craftsmanship over Cadar's.

Any ship that can carry megatons of toiletries and small meat products and make a daring raid on Cadarian home worlds is a dream ship. Or nightmare if your Cadarian

Or nightmare if your Cadarian Still laughing at the image of Thulun high command considering toiletry runs of high military importance. Which they would. So embarrassing to be in the clans sometimes, when the best you can say as a Javatian is: " Thulun? At least it's not Steel Song!"

capthawk, in the forum StarTraders universe, there is a famous attack upon Cadar military academy involving cocktail weinies and toilet paper. It involves a few well known players here. Have fun searching for the tales. I suggest a trip to the DV primes spice hall The conversations are priceless.

And for the record, Cadar make very good guns. Admittedly, most of them only have a maximum of 16 rounds worth of ammo, and are designed to work best at long range.
