What am I doing wrong? Every game I play, my economy just dies once serious combat happens.

shapcano - Cory will probably be better at reading that screen and responding, but the main thing that sticks out to me is "19 Factory" and "58 Population". I worry that you are not using your Population to your advantage. Matching Factories to Population is one way to build a very strong economy.

My limitation on building mines this game was definitely cash, not CP, and I tried to build them aggressively. Or are factories involved in maintainance? Edit: All Cadar empire contributed to this state of affairs.

Factories when not building produce a ton of cash, at least from what I've seen. Plus, if you need to build something, have a high pop = # factories lets that planet finish extremely fast.

Plus, if you need to build something, have a high pop = # factories lets that planet finish extremely fast. Yeah, that's what they're for, but build speeds weren't my problem, except possibly inasmuch as a mine built more quickly finances the next mine more quickly.

shapcano - look for a balance of mines and factories. The trouble with Factories (which you screenshots show) is that if a world starts building something, their Factory-based income drops. Your "Busy/Idle CP 19/0" shows that 100% of your worlds are building a ship / upgrade and that 0% of your factories are producing $$ atm. Getting Trade Points (TP) from higher level factories means $$ that is not affected if you are building on that planet or not.

shapcano - np, the Library and Adviser should help! I'll tell you what would help me a lot. A video of a full game, start to finish, that you won.

Ok, I can work on doing a recording. Unlikely that I will capture a full game, but I can talk and play for a while and build a powerful economy.

In particular, I want to see how your Empire is set up at the start of your major conflict with the Xenos, and how you then prosecute that war.

Cory Trese, fallenI really hope that this video shows me some major strategy for playing that I just haven't seen yet. Because right now, the game is unplayable for me. I can build fast, I can expand fast, and the moment major space battle begins the whole economy seizes up. (I nearly threw my phone the turn that two of my worlds were attacked by WKs, and my factions decided to start a trade embargo.) And I'm playing on normal. I have a ton of faith in you, and your ability to design great games. I haven't given up hope on this game. I'm sure a lot of it is learning curve; I'm *still* learning things about playing the original ST. Right now, the curve is very steep, and victory feels unreachable.

I have seen these spikes in Income the turns I colonize a new world. Why is it?

shapcano - we are working on leveraging in new tools to help you up that curve. We hope you'll listen closely to the adviser and consult the library!
