Early in the game I got not one but two 100 research bonuses from analomies. Unfortunately, this early on my research only takes 50 points, but nothing carries to the next project. This happened two times. Quite annoying.

Well, I cannot store the excess RP from turn to turn.
The only thing I can think to do is clamp that maximum bonus for early turns or to what was actually spent.
That is going to take a huge amount of code to fix something all the other games have (Stars!, Pax)
Was it annoying because you felt you should have had an option? Or annoying in terms of "oh bad luck"

Another option that you might learn from the experience is to wait and Explore your anomalies on when you can use the full bonus. Start some nice new construction projects? Just started a new tech? Go for it!

And I have the sense that I lost something really, really awesome. What may help is just saying that this will just complete a current research assignment or speed up research without actual numbers so I can't see what extra points I tossed in the gutter. But I summon contributor, johndramey and everyone else for an expert analysis/opinion!! /ichooseforummembers!

I will have to test and see how it acts if you are concurrently researching multiple things.

I'm jealous. I explored 3 anomalies hoping to get one research completion. All I got was a cash bonus each time which I certainly did not need at that point. On the flip side as a kid I bought allot of cracker jacks before I got a good prize inside.

I would like then either the option of early phase discoveries to just complete any research rather than allocate rp.
Two alternatives available. 1 ... research queue, so once one project is complete the next project is worked on and the excess rp goes to the next queued project.
2 instead of rp allocated in a discovery, would be cool to get a whole tech to be discovered ... randomly determined and could be something advanced or completely different e.g. mining our military.
3 another discovery could be a ship .. imagine finding a lost colony ship or carrier in a nebula!

2 & 3 are now on the roadmap.
1 is counter to how RP work when generated.
I would rather have them divide equally like any concurrent project did.
I fixed it, in a way, by clamping the high RP until you have a high RP project.
This way, while you are loosing out on bigger bonus, you don't know.
