I *just* used the Colony Ship scan ability for the first time, and I like it! But why doesn't the Explorer have it?

By the time I've done that much research (spaced out by other important lines of research), I've exhausted the anomalies in my region of space. |

I downloaded the update and my Explorer doesn't seem to have scan? On a new game or old one? It only impacts new games, your existing ships are always going to remain unchanged in any alpha (or even real) updates. |
