Hi all, I've really enjoyed playing STRPG as an explorer and as a merchant. In both of those cases, though, reputation was a pretty simple idea: Be friends with everyone.
It seems like you would want to have a different tactic with Bounty Hunter or Military Officer, since avoiding any mission that angers a faction really limits what you can do in those roles. Especially since negative reputation seems to pile up pretty quickly.
Any tips that you all could provide would be much appreciated.

I either be friends with the Syndicates or House factions, and then pick Indy/opposing 3 faction contracts. If I make nice with Rychart, take contracts against House clans.

With a military officer, conflict participation is common as well as contacts. With a death warrant and rank, you can gain rep with all factions by varying your target for solar wars and spy battles. Also, solar wars and spy battles don't cause loss of rank like contracts.

I usually play 3 syndicates or 3 houses friendly as BH and send the other Faction's reputation to -100000 =)

Thanks for all of the advice! I will enjoy these professions a lot more now that I have a clearer idea of how to deal with faction rep.
Additional question: Has anyone tried a military officer with loyalty to only one faction? If so, how did that work out?
BTW, Cory - I have to thank you for all of your games. They are all fantastic and in playing them I can tell that you love creating them.

steely, most of my MOs are loyal to only one, mostly either Thulun or De Valtos. And their general target is Steel Song. Quite a bit of planets, so LOTS of space to blockade. Sent from my HTC Desire C with Tapatalk...

With factions going from Solar War to Alliance in the blink of an eye, it turns out that having a faction ally itself with your factions does NOT mean that they forgive you of that one dozen ships you blew up in that one Solar War. Come on, let bygones be bygones...
