So it's total population / maximun factories / working factories? Cool. Thanks Factories in use/built factories/population working I think. So if I have 4 factory 3 and a population of 8 it would read 2/4/8 if I had 15 population it would read 4/4/12 I would look at my actual population and see that 3 population are idle, so I need to build or upgrade factories

An idle factories 3, with 4cp and maintenance 40, assuming perfect morale and population, will break even and because of the trade, actually generate some money. correct?

In the next phase an Idle Factory 3 generates 29 CP / Turn at 8 Morale with no conflicts.
At 8 Morale it will range from 19 CP / Turn to 61 CP / Turn based on Conflicts.

And 8 moral elicits a 20% maintenance penalty correct? so that would mean 29 from idle cp and 38 from trade cp
so income of 67 and expense of 48? assuming no external xeno or factions conflicts and population is over capacity?

8 Morale gives you a 10% DISCOUNT on Maintenance. 9 Morale gives you a 15% DISCOUNT on Maintenance. 10 Morale gives you a 20% DISCOUNT on Maintenance.

Well duh. here it is again: 16 colonies. 1 had terrible moral, but was a quality 6, so i just kept ping spice festivals to keep it between 4 and 6 3 of the colonies hovered around 8. They other 12 were 10's one turn i was making +400, the next, -1200. now, 5 turns before I was making 1100 and had built up a 9 nest egg. I used that and upgraded across the board and cued up to new ships that were upgrades to current ships. I had done this before, so when my income went from 1.1k to 400, wasn't worried. As soon as the ships and the new building came on line, things went to hell. I made a bunch of palace 2 and upgraded to starport 4 ( and yes, I am the one that did the starport 4 aren't worth the money thing) as soon as this went down, I checked morale. Everything was the same. The big change is that my maintenance went from 97% to like 103%. regardless, I bought 2 rounds of spice festivals for my bad colonies while I still had the cash. next turn I was out of bank and still losing 1.2k. I cut 2 ships and cut the extra factories that were idle and didn't have population to fill them. can't downgrade starport, so i was SOL. Still at -800 and maintenance now at 107% over the next 10 turns, I demo all palaces and 2 more ships. Two xeno direct attacks and 3 colony ships to kill on my terrible.morale planet, I got rid of everything bu habs (made a small mistake there and ditched 2 habs which weren't in us then pop went up)

By the time I was done, I had gotten to break even, but morale was toast across the board, I was under attack on two fronts, -20K in bank, and maintenance was 117%

I misunderstood an earlier post then, because i though maintenance went up by 10% for each point below 10 morale. Pop overage was a 1:1 quality overage was 1:2

I think we've got to look deeper than one Colony for the a 6% swing.
I think we've got to look for a real reason the economy changed.
Maybe in the next version the advisor will spot it for you.
