vintoks - at this time, the bonuses of improving these Talents is range and safety in opening doors. Raising Security skill has no affect on Doors / Chests. This is a lingering area of the system which has yet to be implemented to the original design.

Almost every time I use unlock, I wish it was not in game at all. The disarm skill would cover for it just fine. And will not induce this feeling of regret, when you spend a point into it.

Ooo ... what ifff, when it came to lock picking, you got a mini-game where you had to actually pick the lock. The Talent level and security skill slowed the speed of the lock pins movement, so the higher the skill, the quicker you can get the pins all aligned I know I know ... not gonna happen because that isn't what the games about (and after the 3rd or 4th lock, you'd be going "Just open the damn thing already" ... And and and ... I myself have always found it a little funny that the chests get unlocked but remain closed when you pick a lock, but the doors spring open like they're just busting to be free. I blame the carpenters for putting in faulty door latches!

And you've got enough Respec right now ... I shows you that all the time Don't worry - I'm not advocating changing the game code- I don't mind springy doors and it adds to the strategic thinking

Increase Stealth, remember that you can open on a diagonal with Vraes standing in the door *and still win stealth.* ^I did not know that. Very useful information would have saved me so many annoying deaths *facepalm* fallen will security skill effect more than just unlock/disarm save? (in future)

Since this thread is being brought up again. What about adding a ranged lock pick skill for Vincent. I've got a group right now that is using Vincent and Tamillin and I really don't want to build her for Stealth/Dodge, but I know that I have to for those few doors in Redhill. If Vincent could pick locks that would make me very happy.

CdrPlatypus - the original plan put emphasis on requiring Security skill to be used for unlock. We will be rolling out some improvements for Security that help to auto-disarm traps in the future. However, any changes to the lock system cannot go forward without respec, as so many groups have been built, able to ignore it completely. This is completely TBD, but clearly can't be changed without providing a big rebalance and a way to respec. contributor - we won't e adding a Lock Pick skill to Vincent.

Hmmm. fallen maybe make all doors necessary to progress into the story stay the same security level, but the doors that hold secrets could require extra points... This way people could still go through the game, but not get the extra chests and areas... Idk though, Selen is already hard tospec out...

I'm o.k. with things as is regarding recessed doors. Lurker's suggestion of minimizing future recessed doors is interesting. fallen, Maybe the Security Skill should be removed, grayed or somehow frozen so the typical beginning player doesn't waste points on it. Implementing it later would require massive rebalancing in order not to bash existing groups. This game is already very deep, maybe Security should just go away.
