While I was playing last night I had three successful Trade Alliances get formed, i.e. I got the message in my turn summary. The first one did form an Alliance, and seems to have also ended a Solar War. Score! following the second and third one no new Trade Alliances showed up in my politics screen. Finally a forth successful Alliance (turn summary) did show up as a new Alliance in the politics screen. I almost gave up trying them, thinking that maybe we were only allowed one at a time.
There's also a big need for some more documentation on these things. I have no idea how much of a bonus I get from these things and after failing 2-5 in a row I start wondering if I'm not wasting more money than it's worth. One game where I got loads of Alliances formed, I never had any negative political events happen. Is there a limit to the number of events that can be going on at the same time? If so that's a huge unseen bonus in negotiating as many Trade Alliances as possible. It keeps other bad conflicts from starting. I also had my first Spy War start. It said it was risky but had the possibility of being very advantageous, or something like that. How do I take advantage of one of those? Or how do I know if I've won or lost as a result of a SW.
Anyways, I know you've got your hands full creating documentation. This is just one more area that pretty opaque at the moment.

contributor - we agree, and its one of our focus areas for the next set of Alpha updates. It needs to be clear what benefits you can gain, and why you would run these low % chance, high cost operations. The Library contains the specifics on what the Conflicts do - so read the section on Spy War to see exactly what it does.

Sorry to hijack, but it seems that it can take several Sanctions to end a Trade War or Solar War. Intentional or bug fallen ?

You need higher level Sanctions. contributor -- check out the library, documentation is provided in detail as far as I can see, every bonus and penalty are listed in exact terms.

I had only looked at a few things in the most recent update. Will look again. Still wondering why it says I've formed a new alliance, but they don't show up in my politics screen though. Is it possible I was just forming the same trade alliance over and over again?

Is it possible I was just forming the same trade alliance over and over again? It maybe building up the levels of the Alliance, yes. It is also possible that the Factions are changing or the overall order of conflicts is being adjusted and you're not seeing it because it looks pretty similar. I'll look at trying to make those messages more detailed without overwhelming the player with text.

Actually I'm not seeing documentation for Spy Wars in the Library. That was the one I was most interested in. Is it there and I'm missing it somehow? Also is there a max of 3 trade Alliance/Routes at any one time. I had three Alliances going and researched another one. It was successful, but didn't show. I then researched a Route and it was successful but then I had 2 Alliances and 1 Route. If there is a max number of Trade Agreements that should be documented somewhere since we're always told to keep our diplomats busy.

contributor - yes, the Spy War is in the library. We're working on a cleaner visual organization, but if you look carefully the topic name is "Spy War"

Man, I can't believe I missed that. On two occasions I carefully scrolled the whole list and didn't see it. At least now I know why my economy is tanking so badly. I really need to get rid of this thing.
