Today the CK ammo system seems a little bit odd. Here is why: We envision that one consistent accessory all knights carry (in addition to the computer) is a cyber (or nano-cyber) ammo loader. This cyber loader is show in the equipped item list, under the two weapon slots. Starting with the next release you will: - Only pay 1AP for reloading a weapon.
- Have a maximum number of rounds in the loader.
- Have an "auto-load" option to fill it with ammo.
- Only pay full AP cost for using items. Multiple items cost the same AP.

If you rely on a specific automated/semi-automated system to speed things up, then you have to factor in a % chance that in any loading action, the system jams or fails.
Still fuming about Lodsys so thinking of ways of how to shoot the bastards with large caliber weapons. Auto loading would be useful to help keep the momentum of the slugs punching their bodies out the window of their 813th floor window.

I suggested today that we add "LoadSys HQ" to the map and put up lots of high rep, low pay jobs to assassinate all up in that building =)

Yeah ... but you'll have to make it so no matter how many times you storm the building, killing everything/one in it, they return like a bad virus.

This auto-loader sounds like a great idea. I was beginning to wonder why my Gunslinger wasn't smart enough to reload after hitting guys in the face with hollow-point slugs. EDIT: slayernz - Actually, having contracts like that(and possibly, eventually, having maps for the inside of buildings)would be incredibly ?!@#ing awesome.

Have you seen the looming mega-corp towers in the center of New Boston?

Just call the building "Copyright Whores R Us".

I suspect the MegaCorps are BIG (*chuckle*, get it . . . "BIG" . . . oh fine, my timing stinks) erhmm. . . big fans of imaginary property.
This is probably why sympathies are not with them.
(and I'd 2nd TBs concerns, no reason to risk a libel charge in the UK, they're libel laws are kind of crazy and get overly-broadly applied to international targets regularly, but maybe I read too much techdirt and boingboing)

Yeah, Abs is right. Last year when I was still doing my radio show, I did a special on the 1st amendement and free speech after the supreme court decisions about campaign finance and FCC censorship. Comparitive to the US, the UK has a much broader term for libel, etc.
Anyway, back to the topic of the thread! I love the idea of the auto-loader!

Not sure if this would even apply to this particular topic, but what about gun jams? Is that a likelihood in the future? Not that I would enjoy it so much as it would add another random act of "Oh @!?%!" to the game. Clearly, NPCs would have to suffer the same fate.

I am a huge fan of Necromunda and 40k. I played a bunch when I was younger. This game does have a lot of that flavor, mixed with some Shadow Run and others.
But, one thing I get a feeling for is the technological advancement that is part of the backdrop for CK. If they have functional nano-tech, that is a part of every day life, as well as biological, nerve/consciousness-integrated surgical implants...amongst so many other things as a part of every day life...then, they have reached a level of technological development where they are not going to have to worry about guns jamming.
Especially not with gear that is maintained by constantly functional nano-tech. Just my $0.02 though.

Yeah, I see your point.
And I shouldn't surprised that some of you guys on here play any of the Games-Workshop games as well. Back in the early 2000s(like, literally 2000) I played Fantasy and 40k, and a little of Mordheim. Then a friend of mine at the time decided to steal all of my models and crap. I was pretty pissed.
Edit: Oh, and the only bit of Shadowrun I have ever played was the SNES game. It was a cool game, though. I always wanted to look into the PnP game, but I have never been able to find any of the books. Is it discontinued?

So, since the last patch mentions the auto-loader, does this mean it is actually in game now? If so, is it an implant or another piece of equipment we just buy at the weapon dealers?

Loadsys is distinctly different enough to the original company name that the risk of trademark is minimal. There shouldn't be any libel/slander as you aren't actually saying "In Loadsys HQ, there are a pack of life-sucking patent lawyers who have a sole mission in life to earn their living by claiming intellectual property rights on all of the developers of the world".
If you still had concerns, you could change it even further: * Loadsis <-- This company develops backpacks that only sisters can wear. * Loadthis * Lewdsys * Lordsys <-- This company really has a belief they own everything in the world.
