Just curious on how people feel about this? I've been having a long (heading into the 3rd consecutive year) war with the xeno to my North and started to realize... ships take a lot of beating. That's quite nice for us, as it gives the feeling of a few heavy units fighting off hoards of xenos, but it could do with a little fine tuning, in my opinion.
Namely, I feel that non-combat ships (like the transport class) or non-direct combat (like the carrier class) have too much HP. I think you could safely cut back those non-direct-combat class ships' hp by 50% and make it a little more.. tactical. As it is I can sit my invasion ships over an enemy colony and let the AI just shoot the hell out of them for 10-15 turns before I have to start worrying about them going down. In my current game, I had two invasion ships invading a xeno planet that was protected by 3 railgun ships. The 3 railgun ships couldn't take out either of my invasion ships before I wiped the population out.
What does everyone think?

I like this suggestion, it is really easy to implement.
Maybe I should tie it to difficulty.
