Okay... So I a accidentally upset steel song. I had rank and permits with them. I was in the negatives about -40. (didn't notice a trade embargo)
Ran into one of their ships. I don't member what it said beyond me being a criminal of sorts, but also an officer. The option was ignore, or acknowledge. Not wanting to lose any more faction rep I hit acknowledge. They executed me... It was my highest character yet on demanding... Should it have said surrender instead? Or...?
I suppose I will have to be more careful reading what it says when it says acknowledge...
Also, it isn't possible to play aggressive at all without having at least one or two factions hate you is it?
And correct me if I am wrong, but selling records only increases rep if you are zero or positive right?

i don't know
you are correct
and I am not sure but I think you still get rep, especially in a spy battle, but thats a up and a down to the respective factions.

there must be a bug or it was the breaking point based on what happened in the combat or what was in the hold. I will investigate

Well. It seems i have lost three captains to being executed on acknowledges... Maybe my phone doesn't like this last update... That and the odd scout saving %1$d crew again and again...

I will look into the ACK code, it's old and hasn't changed in a while. I will try to find it.
The %1$d is a bug. How are you getting it to happen (what screen, etc)

Hmmm ... I'll do some testing too - my captains LOVE me using them to test "execution" actions I haven't seen the accidental execution on acknowledge for a while though - not that I was actively hunting it out.

How are you getting it to happen (what screen, etc) just when it says a number of crew saved it says %1$d crew saved by officer. Usually after exploring but sometimes after harvest. Its in the toast that comes up. As for the executions, it happens often when I end up.negative, but still having all my warrants and rank. Once was a pirate I think. But the other times it was military vessels saying my good reputation should keep me okay or that I had nothing to fear from a warship on the last one. On all counts I should.probably just run even if I am only a few negative even if it says acknowledge, i will just think surrender instead.

Usually after exploring but sometimes after harvest. Its in the toast that comes up. Thats exactly what happens to me. I like to explore, and I see it all the time.

Acknowledge on pirate looted me.
Maybe they said: Bounty Hunter: We are now going to execute you...do you acknowledge? Pirate: We're just gonna take everything and break your arm...do you acknowledge?

I think I figured it out. It happened again.
It seems to happen when you still have permits, still have warrants, and still have military rank, but negative rep from something like an embargo. Then run into a bounty hunter and it says they will avoid you. It says acknowledge, and the text is gray, not red. But they haul you in due to negative rep... So maybe the bug is rep related when it interacts with still having rank and permits.
