So... I'm looking at the "character awards", specifically the one for completing commissions.
For example, I'm at "Master Soldier: Hard" (for the "8 commissions completed level"), but I've actually completed 63 commissions, and I've been at it "6 years". Why have I not been able to earn the "Veteran Soldier" award for 48 commissions in 10 years?
I noticed there's a separate award for completing "Commissions for your patron nation", but that's, separate.
Is this a bug..?

salamano - have you go to a Castle to record your exploits?

Yepper! Multiple times and cities...
It doesn't trigger... Surely I don't have to be only at the capital city to do it...

What difficulty are you playing on?

I'm playing on the "Hard" difficulty level.

Now it says that I:
"...Have taken 103 Commissions... have successfully completed 85..."
I have also been a captain sailing for "9 years, 64 days, and 4 hours".
Still no "Veteran Soldier" award... Even tried to claim it in the capital of my patron nation of Ruesland.
I guess I won't be playing much anymore, lest I accidently stumble past my 10th year and lose the award on that account. :/

I have the same issue.
I have the 4 & 8 commision awards, but not the 24, 48. I've completed 68 in 7 years. (24 by the end of the 3rd year).

salamano - yes, it sounds like a good time to put the captain on the shelf and let us look at the code. We've been out on travel and are now back and will investigate. #AOP-2458

I have fixed a bug here as well as updated the description with this critical fact:
"Reject, fail and expire less than 15."
Will post an update later today along with some new ships and other fun fixes.

I have fixed a bug here as well as updated the description with this critical fact: "Reject, fail and expire less than 15." Will post an update later today along with some new ships and other fun fixes. Hmm... I guess I didn't know that "passing" on one was rejecting it... (I can simply hit the back button and go back in and get another commission. I felt like in my brain it wasn't necessarily permanently rejecting the quest, but rather just passing on it for now, figuring I could always go back and pick it up later. I never once actually hit "reject commission" but I guess it was scored that way. (Didn't know everything was randomly generated at the time). Of all the quests I took, I've completed 85, failed 8, and allowed 10 to expire uncompleted. I doubt I crossed the dreaded 15 mark 40 quests ago, but maybe. I guess I'm screwed on this one, but it's good that others would now know at least

So I saw... :-)
Unfortunately, that new clarification didn't grandfather in any one who could't see/didn't know about that "15-minimum" qualification ... So the (in my opinion) uber cabin upgrade ( +20 / 30% ) that's only available to those who have earned "Veteran Soldier" status are out of luck and may well have to start over in order to earn it.
If my memory serves me... is this the only ship upgrade that can become permanently un-earnable to a captain? Seems like it's kind of a big deal, particularly to have accidently left out that critical portion of the requirements scheme that leaves some on the outside looking in through no fault of their own.
I guess a translation would be, "are you really going to make (people like) me have to start over and do a new set of 10 years of captaining..?" because I say, "Ugggh", not "Arrrgh" to that.

salamano - we apologize that there was a bug, and we fix them as we can and always try to grandfather in those we can. We do our best, thanks!
