Recommendations then I ultimately want a tablet phone highbred, but Verizon is being poopty about that None are wonderful yet, but if it were me I'd look at the ASUS Transformer being relatively reasonably priced although I think that they could stand getting down to the $200-300 range for high specs given that for the same price that you can get a pretty decent nb...

From the research I've done, I would choose the Acer Iconia A500. It has the most connectivity options (full size usb, micro usb, hdmi, etc) and it will also accept a microSD card. It's also one of the cheaper ones ($399 most of the places I've looked). The cons, in my opinion, it's one of the heavier and thicker tabs, the charging cord is only like 2 feet long, and it currently is only android 3.1 (others are up to 3.2).
There are lots of reviews around the interwebs. It really is going to boil down to what hardware options you think you want. If weight and size are a concern and connectivity isn't an issue the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 would probably be the best. If you want something in between the Acer and the Samsung then probably the Asus transformer.

I got mine as a result of paying to go to Google IO, but the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is freaking sweet IMO.
Sure, it has no ports but the battery life is crazy good and it is super thin. Not sure it's worth the retail price tho...

Motorola Atrix 4G (2.3 Gingerbread) was running it on Motorola Backflip (2.1 Eclair) before with no problems.

I agree with dilz669 about the Acer Iconia A500 I've been looking at 10.1 inch tabs and that's the one that I'm thinking about buying. The weight isn't a concern for me, as I'll be sitting on the couch when I'm using it. A short extension cord will fix the short charging cord reach. I do that with the smartphone now when I'm playing CK. It works good for me.

While I never list it in the change log, I work on every release of every game to consume less power. I play these games a lot and I hate it when my EVO runs out of batteries.
And there are lots of cool applications you can buy, as a developer, that let you track power consumption and optimize your thread/code/cache/storage to minimize battery use through CPU and Flash wake control.

hmmm... I just happened to have had the Nook Color out the other day and noticed that CK was missing in the library for that as well... must've been a while ago that I had CK on the NC, as it's not on now. (I don't use it much, but CM7 has given it usefulness.)

sorry to bring back this topic for a non CK related query but...
Anyone know if I can take one of the new video cameras with the usb jack built in and plug it directly into a tablet and have it play back, say the Acer iconia? I can get an Iconia for 299 and if I can plug and play a camera into it, my job will be that much easier.

You'll like the Acer Iconia. Very nice tablet. When you log-in to the Market with it, you can download all your paid for apps again without having to buy them a 2nd time. That was a nice surprise =)

399 at target with an immediate 100 gift card. So you really pay 399 up front but 299 on the back end.
