Mining operations will cease on all Javat worlds for one standard minute to honour the death of Snaah; merchant captain, Hyperion Overlord and hero of Clan Javat.
In a career lasting 1092 years, Overlord Snaah became a respected visitor to palaces throughout the quadrant, and a hero to the people for his rapid market deliveries in times of need. The timely arrival of Snaah's cargo swung the outcome of many significant events in the quadrant, from deliveries of weapons to suppress worker uprisings in Javat mining colonies to meeting the spice and vudka requirements of state events among the Syndicate worlds.
Overlord Snaah captained no fewer than ten vessels during his lifetime, but two defined his career.
Firstly, the Vae Victus, which served for the first three decades of the Overlord's career, surviving several pitched battles - not all of which were won, but all survived.
As his fortune grew, Snaah progressed to larger and more powerful vessels, owning several over a 250 year period.
In 304AE Snaah purchased a hyperfreighter-class ship from the Steel Song clan, which he named the 'Cornucopia' and was to captain for over seven centuries. With multiple upgrades to the engines and solar sails, the Cornucopia became one of the fastest ships in the quadrant, able to outrun almost all aggressors and cover the distance from Caldora to Kapteyn Gammat on fewer than twenty standard units of water-fuel.
Indeed, Overlord Snaah often claimed that the Cornucopia made the Corouaari run in under twelve parsecs, prompting mass protests on several worlds by physicists claiming that the parsec is a unit of distance, not time. The brutal repression of these mostly peaceful protests is often cited as an indicator of Snaah's influence within the quadrant.
Toward the end of his career, Hyperion Overlord Snaah took an unexpected turn toward pirate-hunting, even going so far as to dry-dock the venerable Cornucopia and take the helm of a royal cruiser-class vessel, the 'Solar Millennium'.
Snaah's centuries as a trader had also honed his skills in space combat, and he recorded a string of victories against Independent pirates both in deep space and in orbit. His policy of destroying pirate ships and their crews, however, drew the ire of the Independent worlds, and a significant bounty was placed on his head. Many hopefuls took up the contract, and were destroyed in turn by the Solar Millennium.
Overlord Snaah's downfall came in peculiar form: an Independent pirate shuttle which appeared no match for a fully-armed royal cruiser, but was piloted by a pirate rated at 100 "levels".
Closing to boarding distance, the shuttle's captain and crew breached the airlock and ran amok aboard the Solar Millennium , damaging the hull to the point of implosion.
Hyperion Overlord Snaah, prepared for such dire circumstances, abandoned ship in an escape shuttle, accompanied by his officers and what crew remained from the attack.
Despite such a calamity, the Overlord was prepared to start anew. His fortune of some five million credits allowed the purchase of any ship and upgrade, so that he may continue the war on piracy.
Alas, en route to a civilised world, Snaah was ambushed by the Alien. Unable to retreat, repel the swarm or plead for clemency, the captain and crew were overwhelmed and slaughtered.
Hyperion Overlord Snaah perished bravely, alongside his military officer, ship's mechanic, and the first mate, who had faithfully served for the entirety of Snaah's career.
According to standard metrics and ratings, the summary of Hyperion Overlord Snaah's career is as follows:
Difficulty: Impossible
Level: 53
XP: 2429
Credits: 4948135
Turns played: 56832
Hyperion Overlord Snaah gained the military rank of Holy Executioner with all clans and syndicates, and met his death as a Clan Hero and Syndicate Hero.
Mourning for the Hyperion Overlord will occur within the next solar cycle. Attendance is compulsory. Javat citizens who fail to demonstrate appropriate grief via remote encephalography will be docked wages or subject to criminal prosecution.
