When a ship attempts to invade me, the defense rating that's used is lower than the actual defense rating. For example, when a ship bombarded my Cadar prime, the invasion screen said I had a defense of 1 even though my defense was actually 7. I think this is only on the most recent update, because on the previous update the planetary defense rating used was correct and as long as I had 6+ defense I wouldn't lose any population or quality.
