I've unlocked starship 8, but the starship 9 category has not been made available to me yet.

It unlocked for me after I researched planetary construction 9. Not sure if there are any other prerequisites. And the cruiser you get from Starship 9 doesn't work either. There's no canned version, and you do not have any plasma weapons to equip it with.

Crap. I misread. Try getting Planetary construction 8. That might unlock Starship 9.
I though starship 10 in my first post.

You can see how the tree is made (ans thus see all prerequisite) by taping on the icon to open the research menu (the one where you can look at the percentage of research) and there taping on the icon on the upper right corner that look like a tree tech. There you can see what you have unlocked and what is not and taping on each square open all the detail for each tech. Hope that helps  |

I know about the tree . The problem is Construction 9 and Starship 10 are on completely opposite sides of the table. You wouldn't think looking at tho that their connected. |
