I would have gone for the word "short" myself.
Good luck.

I always wonder how many ships the Xenos are starting with. Do they just build ships and nothing else? I like to see from Cory or fallen as to what the Xenos are starting with.
Once you are done with this mob, there is usually another mob of the same size right behind it. Their ships are wimpy in hull but they have lots more.

Dear Xeno- just go away for me. Just started another new tutorial game, just got to my new colonies phase, and there is already a swarm of aliens on my new planets. /Sigh... Looks like I forgo all political and planetary research and focus solely on defense and starcraft. Even on normal, I feel like this game quickly becomes impossible if you make early contact, if you even just come across one of their planets they just go balls to the wall on ship production, even if you keep to yourself and leave the Xeno alone. Normally I never, ever, I mean never do this, but I guess I need to learn this game on easy.

The Xeno start with 10% of the money and 50% of the technology the player does.
On difficulties above Normal, they try play without making any mistakes.
Early Xeno contact can be good or bad. If you kill a few of them, they'll run away and hide for years.
v1.1.9 includes a bunch of difficulty fixes that should make Normal and Easier a lot simpler.
(I was able to wipe out the entire Xeno team on Normal in about 8 years, previously took about 12.)
