It says and my research progresses as if I had 6 RP, but when counting the RP of all the planets, it ends up being over 12.
Also, my income dropped drastically from 4-12 hundret to less than -1k. I was in the proccess of invading a planet when it happened. Even after selling many of my ships, I continued to have huge deficits until my income gradually returned despite me doing absolutely nothing. Something similar happened when I was fighting enemy Xeno ships defending against a retaliating invasion. It dropped magically and gradually returned.

@starfixer - morale damage from loss of ships? Conflicts?

Best thing to do in these cases is figure out what is causing the loss of income. It's not magical, it is caused by something.
You get all the summary values on Team Summary and then in Faction summary, if you need to identify that deep.
Likely something that slowly returns to normal is the result of natural balancing of Morale, Ships coming back from low WF or low HP, getting back to green zones, reducing overhead on Colony Maintenance, replacing Ship Losses (or reducing over pay for existing), reducing Quality overhead, etc.
This question is a bit like a common ST RPG one -- "I don't understand why I keep using up so much Fuel. It seems to change randomly and I cannot control it."
There are a lot of things that cause Fuel use to go up ... likewise with Ship or Colony Maint =)

Alright thanks for the advice. But still, a drop in income of over 1k in one turn is so sudden. Its as if some factors like existing ships or ships in red sectors were suddenly computed after not being computed the previous turn.

Maybe a warning (like : "you have to much ship to maintain") could be helpful. It would help prevent or fix the problem if we could identify the cause.

Faction conflicts have an impact that cannot be overstated. Trade bans are frequently catastrophic. I often read the text: "A trade ban has started between Cadar Syndicate and Syndicate Rychart." as: "Cadar Syndicate have decided that it is more important to have a trade ban with Rychart than it is to be able to fight off the Xeno." It appears that they believe that some principles are worth dying for Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards

Thank you everyone for helping me understand better income drops and rises. However, total RP not equaling the sum of RP listed in each colony is a bug. Please fix.

@starfixer - perhaps there is a Conflict on that is affecting your RP output?

@starfixer - perhaps there is a Conflict on that is affecting your RP output? There are conflicts that affect RP? I don't remember reading that on any conflict descriptions. Which conflicts can do that?

@starfixer - I believe I read your post in reverse. A Spy War effects RP, but positively.
