I am monkeyrogue, and I approve these statements. Also, maybe a confirmation on xp spending, in combination with formula transparency this would help out on planning/building.

Good call Mr. monkeyrogue
* * *
More XP for more Enemies == This seems brilliant! Approved.
More transparency == You will probably want to change the equation! No fair complaining without suggestions. I will post it later today.

A cab ride when providing an escort should cost more than just a standard single person fare Not if you put him in the trunk, then he is just baggage.

I love all the suggestions. Having Just read them all, there was one thing no one mentioned. If there is another thread for it please let me know. I THOUGHT I had seen one before but cant find it now and with this heat in indiana for the past 10 days I am sure my cyberinplants are overheated which is why my data memory is corrupted. Suggestion: Reputation Levels. The higher your reputation the less often you are attacked by gangs or corps you have a high reputation with. Right now I restarted my character and am just putting exp into stealth so I can evade. Not getting into combat at all right now. This is working well sometimes, but when I get dragged into combat I can usually run away now too. But I am missing out on loot, though my v-chip contacts are multiplying well. I also have an example of what reputation can do for you from my Shadowrun 4.0 game I am running. I made this as an addition for my group. Just an Idea that I use. I am sure you could clean it up and make it more appropriate. Attachments:

An intro movie would be cool, give a little exposition on the world and add more atmosphere. Plus people who aren't familiar with the cyberpunk genre would have a better understanding. Nothing fancy mind you, think the original SR video game they did a good job. And have it on the menu so you don't have to watch it every time.

I would like to humbly second the idea of adding magic/psionics. I'm thinking along the lines of SR style. The addition of the Mage and Adept classes would add depth to the roster (more classes focused on Mind based attributes/skills) as well as allowing some unique playstyles/tactics (allways good). In combination with this idea; I would like to suggest "Bionetics". An alternative to cybernetics; bionetic implants would provide benifits similer to cybernetics, yet a bit weaker. The offset would be a much lower DV penalty (or no penalty if you can pay/wait to grow from your own cells), thus not interfering with magic/psionics. The rough idea being that the higher your DV penalty(the more borged out you are) the less ability/potental for magic/psionics you have. Some examples of Bionetics: Synaptic Ehancement = acts like Wired Reflexes (err chipped I mean), Orthoscales = acts like Dermal Plating, Super Platelet Infusion = acts like Bone Lacing (think instant blood coagulation/circulatory control = very little blood lose), ect, ect...I've plenty of ideas for unique effects as well, but I believe I have made my point /wink wink.

I'd like to see "Hacker/thief" be a possible play style, in so far as to say they can break into those buildings that don't do anything yet for the loot within.
That seems to me to be an easy way to increase the noncombat character's worth.

In the spirit of differentiation from SR, I am leaning more towards psionics. I love SR, so don't misunderstand. I just think different makes it more unique. And the magic system in SR is really robust, I think anyone playing this and thinking "I see a lot of SR inspired stuff" will be disappointed that their favorite aspect isn't included. With psionics you really can make it your own.

+1 to monkeyrogue
We are working to build a unique and compelling game world that is inspired by, but not a clone of, similar works in the genre.
I grew up playing and GM in the ShadowRun 2cd and 3rd editions, and I love bioware, adepts and mages very much. But CyberKnights will have a unique mythology that we're designing / building now.
I love the ideas -- keep them coming!

What about random encounters that could be missions? Will we ever see random people walking around the towns or is everyone house ridden? Can we ever start our own gang or take over an existing one? Because I got like 100 rep with AzG and I'd like to start seeing some stock options.

With regard to things from SR that people loved we can address those and come up with something similar that might have a different flavor. For instance the physical adept. Most of which can be represented by a ki-based fighter, well everything except the fireball fingertips...but most players I've seen went with a pure physical fighter template anyway. The mage can be simulated with pyrokinetics, telekinesis, and maybe an energy (lifeforce?) abilities. Even summons could be lifeforce imbued golems or ectoplasm constructs. Unique flavor, same end effect for people familiar with the genre. Just misses out on goblinization.

Goblinazation is a uniquely FASA creation and I'm not interested in telling a modern-magic myth in Cyber Knights.
I think the story that we have come up with will be every bit as rich as the Star Trader's universe.
But I agree with the overall concept that additional "super human" capabilities enhance the game world, add depth to the character classes available and extend the abilities of the opponents you may face in advanced story lines.
Hopefully the strategy we're using -- stabilizing core features first, then adding advanced classes -- makes sense. Walk, Run, Fly, FTL =)
