What I loved about Shadowrun on the genesis was the cool matrix animation when hacking. What I didn't like was that there was no difference between a coffin hotel & gates undersound. It would be good if at coffin hotels u had a random encounter at cheaper places, eg attacked with bad rep, offered stolen goods with positive to high trip, while at swanky places you have more of a chance to get v chips, data files & rumors & such.

While we won't be making a clone of the Shadowrun Matrix, I have a strong belief that I can map the design to a fun mobile button game. I'd say it is about 20% done, so give me a few weeks to prove myself =)

Any chance we could add money to the items you get from killing mobs? These guys have to be carrying computers too, and if I am this great hacker, I should be able to gain access to their bank records and transfer all their funds right?

you haven't fought any Knights, just Runners [therefore, that is why they do not have computers. also, computers are V-Chipped so cannot be transferred (also, why you don't get your old computer back when you upgrade.)]
Adding "Credits" directly to the loot may or may not happen, not something I am actually a very big fan of from a design standpoint for a number of reasons.
We listen to feedback of course, so I have logged this request into the ideas bucket

So, when do we get to fight other knights?

I would like an option to "Fortify" or some such in combat as a choice instead of Move or Attack. Each round chosen, it eats all your AP and gives you a bonus on all your defensive (like ballistics and deflection and dodge), and a bonus to your next attack, provided you do not move. +1 seems reasonable. If chosen twice in a row, you now have a +2 to all defense and a +2 to your next attack round (provided you don't move). Three times +3, etc...
The Roleplaying justification for this would be the character taking full advantage of the surrounding area to get a defensive and offensive edge. For firearms, first round would be something like kneeling down to lower your profile and steady your gun using your leg. Next round would be laying on the ground for an even lower profile and using the ground to steady your aim. Next round might be rolling behind a utility pole so that you have some degree of cover that you can still aim and shoot from. etc... For melee, it might be climbing a wall to get to a fire escape, then using the fire escape as cover while getting into a better position to drop on a foe, next round grabbing a lawn chair off the fire escape to provide some additional obfuscation making it harder for foes to land a hit, while providing you an additional, temporarily longer weapon to swipe at your foe when you leap down. Or, alternately, if you're an anime fan, think of the swordsman, calmly taking position as the enemies charge him. He builds his chi, calms his mind amidst a monsoon of bullets, and focuses on the precise moment in which to swing, neatly slicing the enemy in half with barely a visible motion.
Once the character attacks, the cumulative bonus counts for all attacks that round till the char has no more AP left to spend on attack and defense. After that, the bonuses are gone and the character must fortify all over again if they want to take advantage of it.
If the character moves before attacking, all the bonuses are gone as if the character had just finished an attack round.
I can think of several combat situations where this would really come in handy without breaking the game. The character is still at considerable risk each round they choose to Fortify, as they have no AP for dodge or cover, even though they do get a bonus to their defense. It would make a great use of the times when spacing is just akward enough to put your character in danger by moving, or you've got a good terrain advantage with a bottleneck and don't want to move and lose it, or when those dreaded 20AP drones come whizzing through the city at you from across the map.

This may have been brought up but some melee weapons you could add are simple clubs and swords.
As far as swords you could add vibro blades: stilletos, short swords daggers. Basically not big swords but ones that would fit the cyberpunk genre.

@robotic - definitely, more melee weapons are in the works. The pipeline is overflowing with awesome ideas in this department. Keep playing, and you will see the day!

This may be an overrated feature but you could add a dialogue skip button. This is for the users who have played the many characters and don't want to hear the dialogue in the beginning as well as the dialogue when their character meets one of the faction bosses. I have found that I have been trying to skip over some of it as fast as I can.

While we won't be making a clone of the Shadowrun Matrix, I have a strong belief that I can map the design to a fun mobile button game. I'd say it is about 20% done, so give me a few weeks to prove myself =) there is a freeware or shareware game I played a few years back called Decker. it runs on almost any PC. it also had a simple graphical look to it. I'd recommend finding it to see what I'm talking about. the point I'm trying to make, is that you CAN make a version of The Matrix using the same basic game engine (albeit much smaller maps and tiles) as you have for the overworld. just an idea. www10 .caro .net/ dsi/ decker/ ^^ as I'm typing all of this on my phone, I hope the link comes up. that's one of the sites to find the game. for such a simple game...it had me hooked for months and months. I know that you are making your own voice in the Cyberpunk genre, but it doesn't hurt to see other examples and formulate your own ideas from it.

How about having the taxi drivers charge more the further they have to drive you. like in real life they would charge a flat fee (25Y) + a fee for each additional zone traversed (5Y).

I just the idea of the arena at some previous page, and that exactly what I intended to post when coming to this thread ! So allow me to insist a little on it... Because my character is friendly with everyone, I just bumped into a HUGE problem : I have the skill to kill, I have the weapon to kill, I have the means to kill, but I have no one to kill !! And so this red-haired girl frustration's ends up getting bigger and bigger each time she encounters an armed thug... But there was a day when she woke up and had (what she thought to be) a great idea : a coliseum, an arena, or whatever name you want to give it ! There would be tons of super-bad-evil-ennemies that you could smash down for the corwd's pure pleasure and without losing any rep, and you could debate as much as you want on what being a true barbarian means, without a tiny bit of philosophy... =) With a more serious tone, I thought of something like : in the docks, you could talk to some strange guy who would offer you to participate in illegal fights, not linked with any faction, and where you could gain money, reputation as CyberGladiator and unlock terrifying opponents... Or maybe some friendly tournaments between factions : you would have to have at least 50 rep with a faction to participate under its flag, etc... But I just wrote "friendly", and it kind of... doesn't fit with CK worlds... =p
There was also something bothering me : let's imagine you create some revolutionizing (does this word exist in english ?!) update, wich greatly change the way of playing, would I have to start over a new character ? I am not really the type to create tons of guys, 'cause I'm really slow when playing... I admit this looks a lot like a whim, but I would really love it if our already existing characters were adapted each time to new updates !
Keep going on with your games, the way they evolve is simply amazing !

Raven I believe that was me. I just really thought that the implementation of a gladiatorial like area for those of us who don't wish to pursue the Matrix. Somewhere were we could test our skills so to speak. Also as a side benefit it could work well for balancing issues. What guns are just too powerful etc... While I'm on the subject I'd also like to see a little gambling going on. Maybe even being able to place bets upon the fights. Obviously not in the ones that you participate in. Well not unless it was DV adjusted.

moody True, that was you ! We're thinking of the same thing : somewhere you can fight as much as you can, testing your skills without wondering how much time it will take to regain your lost reputation... I agree with the bet idea : maybe there could also be categories, according to your DV, or to your number of wins so that the difficulty would gradually rise... Seems like a strange idea, but reading an old post made me think : maybe we could use some code system to "download" adversaries ? That would be a fight for fun, without or with few award, just to test our skill ! Sadly, I know nothing about creating games, so I cannot say if that is realistic or not... =)
