So in my games at the start i usually go to East Acadas [2,1] and i go through a trade route to get some extra money to start me off and then i do whatever and sometimes i like to do commisions in the area and that gets me some extra money. So are trade routes profitable to go through cause with my regular one i can usually get over 200 or 300 silver per run.

Well my route goes in a circle from starting from Dunbar where you buy timber or hemp then go to Dunbeath sell that buy canvas or rum then go to Nairn where i only use to sell but it doesn't seem that there is anything worth to buy then you go to Stonehaven and buy the same stuff like in Dunbeath and then go to Fort Locht where you sell and back to Dunbeath its not really a straight path to Dunbeath but all of the ports are in the same area so its easy to do a few runs get the money you need and then do whatever

virtualrock - awesome share and great modification on the tutorial trade route! Age of Pirates is designed to encourage and reward merchant captains who develop good trade routes, so you're doing exactly the right thing!

I dont really play as a merchant i am more violent and usually loot ships but i have noticed that timber and spice isnt going to be enough to pay for the repairs of my mast and hull

I used to have a bunch of trade routes memorized. The good thing about AoP is that if you just keep an eye on the kind of port, you can usually predict what will be a good to sell and buy at that particular port.
I'll see if I can't dig up some of my old trade routes!

Here you folks go, I don't have my exact trade routes, but I found the quick and dirty guide that I wrote up when the game first hit the stores. Feel free to check it out, I do remember doing quite a lot of trial and error to get all of the basics down. My trade guide

Sorry, nothing off the top of my head. I'm at the office and can't really get AoP going at the moment. If you really want to, I might be able to jot a couple down in a couple hours. Really, though, if you use the little guide I posted up and peak into the areas you want to go to, you can preemptively have a couple ports lined up to hit. That's what I used to do, and it almost always worked out well!
