Looks like you have a solid treasury but a weak income. Queue up building some new ships - that looks like a hell of a fun fight!
One suggestion - retreat to your own territory (green) so you can reduce the cost of the upcoming prolonged battle and keep cost down.
OR build a colony ship, take that xeno world and plop down a new colony right in their face.
Looks like a hell of a good time coming your way!

It entirely depends on your tech level, if you have a good enough tech you beat them with a couple ships. If not, spam them with.canon fodder until ypu do.

No you're not. You just need to keep in mind that their ships outnumber yours no matter what, so you have to make sure that the ships you do have are much mroe powerful than theirs. Then you can hold them off. Once you invade and colonize thier planet, their numbers should decrease.

Tip- if you surround the planet with cheap fighters they can't spawn

virtualrock - can you see why? Too many ships? Too many damaged ships? Fighting in the red zone?

virtualrock - if you're struggling against economic issues, building a second fleet on top of the first is not going to fix the problem I love 4X games ... they are a mean genre. A single game is a win or a loss. Learn from the losses and strive for the wins.

The Xeno just kept on coming... I needed that second fleet but the economy was like "Not today"

You have to build lots of mines and invest in the economy heavily early so you don't have this problem. Mines are best for income, then factories, trade alliences, trade routes, morale, keeping your ships in green space and having your fleet fully repaired and fueled..Carriers can help alot with that last one. Expansive colonization to get revenue from more planets can be good too, but don't colonize faster than your economy can handle.
