Yo dudes, this thing is crazily powerful... my cruiser one-shots every enemy ship, whether as a normal attack or retaliation... :3

And just as I was celebrating the joy of having three ships carrying this... the Xenos launched an attack and my income dropped from +$304 or something to -$88. ><

Those ships are expensive to maintain and once they start Red Sector duty, take damage and fuel loss you'll see a Spike in maintenance. Rotating them in and out of combat will help.
Many Cruiser designs are too expensive to be primary fleet, you may find better cost to benefit ratio from mixed battle groups including cruisers, fighters and carriers.
