Hey I noticed while dabbling in STRPG Free that the "Scout" rumor doesn't end up getting you a scout. Are scouts an Elite officer only?
I'm playing 3.8.7 Free and get to the planet (wild) in question. The rumor shows up in the Wild description, but there is no "officer" button.
I don't see it included in 3.8.11's updates so assume the problem will still exist. Will test and see though.

yes that officer is Elite only -- the reason being that his abilities are most useful on planets with ratings of 12+ which are found only in the expanded Elite map / rules set.

Ah  ... that's cool. I have to say that flying around in Free when you are chasing down rumors is kind of liberating because you only have to fly up to about 15AU for any particular rumor. None of this flying from one corner of the galaxy to the other in order to take advantage of a shortage of pizza. I did notice though that rumors seem to change pretty quick at times. I went to Cadar Pavonis and found out that it was having a shortage of weapons. I shoot off to Da Valtos Prime and manage to full my hold with very large nerf guns. I got back to Cadar Pavonis (the round trip wouldn't have taken more than 6 parsecs 12 weeks. When I landed, I was told there was a rumor about a shortage of Metal! I shot off to Gamma-Javat II where I knew there was a surplus of metal, and loaded up (selling my Nerf Guns at a loss). When I rocked back to Cadar Pavonis (maybe 20 weeks later), there was a different rumor of a Political Officer needing a ride. I thought about blockading the planet for a while in protest but got over it. Maybe it's just Cadar Pavonis - it's like they are just very excitable about their rumors. |
