I'm not entirely sure I understand. Are you abusing the AI by putting one of your three starter colony ships up as bait for them to catch? And is the starter colony ship invincible, so it can soak damage and abuse all day, sheltering your colonies?
Respectfully,

Yep. I only settled with one of my colony ships. The other two are used as tanks. They lose about... 5 HP per turn. None, if I am lucky. XD

We're adding "Victory" and "Defeated" screens in the v1.2.x series. You'll get an automatic Defeat if you don't settle the Colony hives in the first 10 turns, and a lower overall score if you wait past 3 turns.

Wait what's wrong with allowing players to not settle with one or two of the colony hives? It's a strategy that has it's ups and downs right? Beside, if you really don't like it, you can always significantly downgrade the stats and power of the colony hives, rather than making an automatic defeat for maintaining them after a certain point. This way, players can settle on planets far away with colony hives, even if traveling to those planets take more than 10 turns. Plus, I really wanna try this strategy now

@starfixer - because it completely breaks the realism of the game. You think the Factions are going to let you abuse them this way?

fallen: XD Coolk, good to know. I actually generally play with one faction regardless - usually I settle the other two in far away places as 'sentinel systems' to alert me of massive Xeno fleets. So I guess we really should focus our tactics on how to actually make the most of all three factions then. @cory Trese: Likewise. Though I would prefer a morale debuff or something if we take more than three turns tho. Like @starfixer, I do like to spread my factions around the quadrant. Is there going to be a debuff/defeat scenario if one of the factions loses its last system?

azedenkae - loss of a Faction through war would be a huge blow to the empire, but is very different in nature compared to stranding or using a Faction for bait at the end of the great Exodus.

xD A little off-topic here, but what are the 'Build' and 'Upkeep' values at the bottom past the 'All Colonies' button and why don't I have them? Tablets only or some kind of bug?

Oh I understand now. I think it should be 20 turns before defeat though, in case you wanna spread out your territory. For 10 turns, maybe give a morale penalty or something, but automatic defeat is too soon IMO.
