Not sure to put this under bug, or what area.. so just adding it here..
I've got a char that's doing pretty well 40+ pilot, 25+ stealth, 15+ tactics.. May have a lot of encounters, but I choose what to fight and what to run from.
There's one REALLLLLY annoying bit. I get in to combat and, because of skills.. close range to targeted-gun range without an issue.. I shoot a few times.. and hit the enemy.. knocking down sails, and often some engines.. NOW, once some engines are gone, I cannot hit the guy for another 100+ rounds of shooting at the guy, sometimes over 200. (I kid you not, I just rapid-tap for minutes on end), with no damage, not a single hit.. The enemy cannot run away, but I can't do anything...
Now, I know my tactics isn't that great.. but if I can hit once or twice with the other ship at pristine, how the hell can I not hit him any further once he's damaged and 'limping' some?
Seems like some of these things get an unreasonable bonus once hit that makes no sense whatsoever.
Also, as a smaller side-note, when able to target-gun (engines/decks) and the like.. I know you can still to damage to just the hull (which sucks for those 'capture' missions.. But if it IS a capture mission, perhaps either an option, or a slightly skewed chance to NOT just hull the guy in one shot? I rather think the captain (and gunnery crew) would KNOW not to destroy the ship before they can capture the guy. Y'know?

What's your character's level overall and difficulty? And you need higher tactics if you want almost fool-proof gunning, otherwise I'd stick to boarding- less risky to target, if a bit risky to you. =/

Crazy difficulty, and lvl is about 35. And yes, will need to raise tactics for flawless gunning, of course. But, it makes no sense that a ship I could hit BEFORE it lost 10-50% of it's engines (close in determination of agility) would suddenly become impossible to hit afterwards.
New phone, new char, and gotten a majority of the old (and some new) achievements/awards. Working on the win combat/kill ships/loot ships ones, and this is just driving me nuts when I can't touch an injured guy, but had no trouble at all injuring him.. torps, guns, etc..

May have seen a bug report on this a long time ago. I've run into this before as well. I believe Cory had suggested not spamming same thing over and over, but varying your actions. I usually end up boarding them to get it over with. For your other thing, yes you are aiming at their engines, but remember that the other ship is moving as well. And desperate captains may attempt to do stupid things. So he may accidently move his ship in a way such that by the time your gunfire reaches his ship, it's no longer heading towards the engines...

athios: Yes, I understand that.. But just happened again.. a 'capture' mission.. ship had 9 armor and 16 hull. one hit, killed it... And as for varying things up, done torps, and still miss endlessly, and my captain is just not warrior enough (yet) to be that useful, and the ship/crew takes FAR more damage than they should if I can just do it at range. Also, I don't just spam in.. I've moved out and back in, all the way out and back in, and nothing.
