Hello,
So I just upgraded to the elite edition, and updated with the latest patch. I'm trying to get unlocks, and I've tried several times to unlock the Picky Beggar by completing Rapid Rank I on challenging, but it never seems to work. I've reached level 3 and 4 before turn 60.1, but it never gives me the reward. Anyone else having trouble, like maybe a bug in the latest patch? Awesome game by the way, really loving it.

Are you by any chance confusing level (which you get by spending XP) with rank (which you get by throwing money at the Prince's flunkies in the Palace)?
Just the first thing off the top of my head.

Abs -- I suspect so. Justin, the game has several measures of awesomeness for your Captain.
"Level" like most RPG is based on XP spent / earned.
"Rank" is achieved by impressing a Prince and paying him to promote your character. This is accomplished in the Palace.
Rank is what is required for "Rapid Rank" unlocks. Other awards (like Hardcore Captain) are based on Level / XP>

oooOOOooo, yeah, i think you're right. I was looking at level and not rank. Huh, well that should make things easier =)
Oh, I've played more since then, and I've hit another one. I won't say it's a bug since I'm fallible and probably not understanding the terminology again, but I tried to get Intrepid Explorer I by exploring a Danger 20 planet, and was successful, but didn't get the reward. I'm going to keep leveling and try something over 21 and see if that works.
Thanks for getting back to me on this stuff, I'm really glad I bought the elite version because you guys really deserve the business with this kind of support. =)

Just tried on a danger 24 planet and still no Intrepid Explorer. I'm on Challenging difficulty, but I don't think that makes a difference. Also, my explorer skill is 15, so maybe I'm supposed to level it to 20 to get the reward?

Sorry, I'm not sure what's up with that one. Sounds like you're at the right difficulty.
Maybe Cory will chime in with an answer.
(I sort of vaguely recall getting it while working on my "Hardcore Elite" award, but can't recall specifics)

@justin -- do make an account, that way we can assign you fashionable titles on the forum as well =)
Awards can be *earned* on any difficulty. Some Awards, when earned at specific difficulties open unlocks. The content behind the unlocks is optional and is only necessary for advanced play and high difficulties.
The Award Intrepid Explorer can be earned on any difficulty. You must have a "full success" on a planet where "DANGER > 20" so 21 or higher and a fully successful exploration.
So you must locate one of these, without being injured or loosing ANY Crew!
" an ancient temple",
" some type of crashed ship",
" an abandoned mining installation",
" some type of research facility",
" a hidden cache of valuables",

Okay, that makes sense. The level 20 explore was fully successful with no injuries, but the 24 had some injuries and lost crew. You should change the text on that one when you get the chance, it says "20 or above" in game. Still, thanks for enlightening me. =)

Thanks I did not realize the in game text was incorrect. Thanks for pointing that out and I it will be fixed in the next release.
Did you get the Award?
