A few things. I've only played impossible - alot I've never won It sucks and its hard and fu trese brothers First - build your de valtos planet FIRST. This will give you extra month. Then build rest your planets. Research for starships 1. when completed cedar should have 2 mines and enough money to buy colony ship de and cadar. you might need to push your war ships to the upper two planets to keep them from being populated. you MIGHT, but 100% those planets gone asap. then just mine up and when your ready to expand, make sure its ONLY cedar or Ve. Syn sucks so, so, so, so much its not funny. Toss a second Syn planet when your confident your good to go Research path!!! Planet up until you can get mines 2, then from there its a guessing game. PERSONALLY! I go with mine 2 factory 2 then planet until i can get faction diplo to just to trading post 3, no 1 or 2. Build an army if you want, generally I start production the moment I start to fail a wave. IF your beginning planets start with 9 below anything, screw that game. Impossible is hard. Only the best. NEVER - EVER - EVER think your too big to fail. ONE game of like, easily 100, I got to +4k income, tons in the pot, and of course, i was a champ, too big to fail. Economy crashes and... so... You should be WELL into mining 2 before you have to worry about an honest to god attack. Also, know the map. I ONLY play 93 planets extreme 3players. it is -the- hardest map, game, setting, so... naturally I wanna win it. tips suggestions ect for impossible?

@paladinefzban - welcome to the forums Impossible is very hard on purpose. We take difficulty very seriously. I'd suggest going and playing some lower level difficulties and winning. Great tips on the thread! Thanks for sharing and stick around!

Generally, the difficulty name matches the difficulty in TB games. If it says Impossible, then expect it to be so hard you will call out for Lady Chance to bring Death to you as swiftly as possible, right fallen ?

playing impossible right now. Having a lot of trouble. Fended off initial xeno wave fairly painlessly though I did take a 1 qual hit on a system - ouch!
Thing is, I'm unable to expand my economy fast enough. The next wave of xeno is going to be brutal.
also, researching is VERY slow, every planet has a palace 2 and a spice den for this reason

jayte - What year are you in/how's all the other upgrades? Are all your mines filled, and your TP-generating structures built? I find that you REALLY have to focus on the economy at first, making sure you're generating as much money as possible, to cover even further upgrades. Then focus on research.

I wish we had custom difficulty. In the alpha I played with Normal/Hard economies with an Impossible AI. It made for some fun wars and aggressive planetary defense actions.

Since I'm still having trouble on the easier difficulties, I have to ask: To those of you who play it, what makes impossible 'impossible'? Is it the economy? Is it the aliens? Are you falling behind on tech? If you're losing on impossible, *why* are you losing on impossible? What makes it so hard?
Respectfully,
Brian P

Just completed impossible last night! I will have a detailed post about it later when I get home but jeeezz
The biggest issues I've found are crap quality planets (many, many planets 10 or lower), researching is cripplingly slow, and that as a result of the above, the economy is extremely fragile. In even crazy difficulty, there were times when I had +7000 income/turn, but here, I had to scrape by on +4000/turn at BEST, and most turns it was half of that due to a spy war.

jayte really nailed Impossible in that thread. Almost a must read for anyone who's struggling on any difficulty!
