52m at end of act1! Team is Kincaid (support???) Vincent (damage) Kyera (off tank) and Selen (Tank). My run before this one I similar team (Fyona instead of Kyera) but i didn't like Vincent to be focused on anything but damage so i switched to Kyera for EA. That team died to the shaman because i ignored the -dodge curse on Selen. In that run I wanted to see if I could build this team without respecing. I focused on TK's (DS) with Kincaid planing to put all my points into flanking utility after 12. Selen didn't spend any points til 9 and then put them all into Quicksilver Defense. I would caution against trying this. While it is possible and i did it (mostly to see if i could), it is extremely hard to play though the first 8 levels with no tank. I had to be focused on playing near perfect even during what would be easy fights for a normal team. After doing this 'purist' route once I am confident I will never do it again. With my current team I went standard Kincaid (focused on early game) and Selen til 12. Kincaid went CF 3, LbtB 1, then Lunge 3. Selen was PS 5, DoS 1. At lv 12 I respeced to Max FU on Kincaid and max QsD on Selen. Kincaid supports the team with his buff and throws knives at people while Selen Dodges all the hits. This team is quite strange I know but its working. Will post again soon with more build details.

The number one killer of my NMI teams is not the enemy. It's me!
And I'm on the move again on the Gplay boards with the V2 Thundercats. They're at 359mil and are making their way back to Brunehorn after clearing everything out on the north side. They even wandered into the CoD just to see what it's like at level 23, but they didn't stay for too long.

Well, my party is dead at 376 mil. This time it's due to the fact that party order is out of the player's control. We unglommed and Vincent was hanging out for the 4 ratkin archers that all decided to shoot him. Random crap. I think I'm done with NMI for awhile. Hopefully TA2 will give the player more control of their own tactics.

Nightmare ironman is definitely best played with breaks in between Too many times I've gone right back in and lose a group very early from playing frustrated.

That sucks. It takes so long to get back to that point in the game regardless of difficulty. Taking a break can definitely help. Hope to see you on the move on the boards before too long.

Yeah, we'll see if I get back on the horse at all. At this point, I don't really have any more groups that I'm excited about making. This last experience has got me thinking that I'm probably not really wired for the tedium of surviving on NMI. The effort it takes to survive some of the random stuff like bad spawns that auto kill your characters is getting too annoying. I like the difficulty of the big battles and I survive those just fine, but I'm not willing to do things like exploring unglommed with Vraes out ahead of everybody. For me, that takes the fun out of playing through 40 levels just to get back to where I was.

My Nightmare Ironman bit the dust last night -- too early, too early by far. Final approach to the Shaman, Selen got too aggressive. Pin-cushion. It always tips over if when the Shamans appear and start hammering - their attack spells are deadly accurate.
Back to taking a break for a while as well. The hardest of the hard on completely unforgiving mode ...

Team support kincaid2 just got to granthorn at 225m. About to do the bone pass (scary) for chests. After that i want to go to breayshalum to pick up some new blades (havent bought anything since getting to osk). Would the best way be to go north from bruenhorn.

Thinking about scouting with my old party is there much danger on that road?

carthaginians The road to Braeyshaulm isn't that dangerous. The orcin can be dangerous if you let them get to your squishies, but other than that the trolls in the area aren't that bad. There was one orcin ambush that had me on the ropes for a while, but that was just because I was going with only one hero that could take hits. I ended up respeccing Kyera because I had been trying to do too much with her and had her spread too thin. Just made it through E2 for the first time. The fight with V was a blast although it was really long. Trying to keep up all my buffs was my biggest challenge. Now I'm doing the Storm Brothers quest before I head for the city of the dead. Sitting somewhere around 730 mil with team Churls. I'll do a write-up on them whenever they fall or whenever I finish through E3.

I am loving my newest nmi team and thought I would share it with you guys so you can join in on some of the fun! I think I will call it Selen's Angels, she is team lead and does a stand up job. What does this team do? Kill things and fast. Everyone can do a lot of damage and no one is wasting ap sitting around...something I love about this team. They excel at the waiting game that I find myself doing on nightmare a lot. Wait out of archer range, 2-3 mobs run in, blend them into purée, repeat! What does this team not do? AOE, at least not at level 18, some later talents could be taken to cure this but I went the more defensive route due to trying to ironman this team. Also it is a touch weak on the defensive end of things until about 17 or 18 so you have to be careful during episode 1. Team rundown. Selen - tank extraordinaire. Straight QsD, then whatever you want! I chose DoS to try and win stealth but it is by no means necessary, PS could be taken for AE and more AP reduction, PB for more team damage or whatever you want! Selen is probably the most flexible on this team due to the fact that you only really need her to tank and she only has 1 tanking talent. Kincaid - buffer/tank/damage. That's right, he does it all! Straight Flanking Unity (I'm not sure I will ever like typing out FU for short...) then I took a point in LbtB and then straight CFW to join Selen on the front lines at around level 25. More reliable at tanking at that point because when hits rarely get through he can negate the first 1. Vincent - buffer/damage. I took Vincent over Kjartan because he can go into blades and do effective spirit free damage. I really feel that the Mage spot is interchangable though...Kjartan would just be sitting around more than Vincent but with CA, everything will be going down a ton faster. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Vincent went straight thundering blades to get acc up and some elemental damage which is key to bringing down the tough mobs. After that I took 1 in FF to help cripple key targets, then 2 in CS to let him maneuver and then FA after that to 10 as that is right when archers start unloading a lot of damage if you do not take them down a peg. Fyona - debuffer/damage. Probably the weakest in pure damage output (please make 1 ap maces! I will love you forever TB!) she is none the less indispensable. I went strickening to 7 (it's most effective level imo) and then straight SoC to make the tanks unhittable. 1 point in reckoning for cheap ap reduction at 18. Most things do not get stricken due to its prohibitive cost however stuff like Orc warlords, berserkers, spider hosts, etc always do. This is where there is some real damage output, 1 ap attacks doing 100ish damage on average and this is in ep 2. It's a death sentence to anything it hits. I also try to use it if I can hit 4 or more things just for more fun factor. I will max out SoC first then strickening, after that I want to build her holy damage buff move to see how high I can get her numbers on stricken targets. On all possible characters I use only 1 ap weapons (Fyona has to use a 2 ap one) as the buff from flanking and the ele damage from TB keeps them ahead of the armour and resist curve. Note: I would not know how to get this team through act 1 without the respec option, especially on nightmare. Waiting to put points into talents till level 6 on Vincent, 9 on Selen, and 12! on Kincaid would be too much of a headache and way too hard to ironman. I did a standard Vincent melt everything LS build to get me past the shaman, then respeced and never looked back. In the future I might wait until after the gereaux fight as that is when you get some kickass 1 ap weapons and it kicks this build into overdrive. It was not painful at all before that however, just a touch weak on the defensive side. Happy killing, Angels.
