Well damn. Kyera died on an accidental double pull on the long trail. Do I Keep This group for testing or start over? If you wanna see if it makes it over the efficiency hump keep going, if you're good on what you learned start over with your next build. My 2 cents.

After getting killed in the CoD and then two tries that came up short because of stupid mistakes I'm pushing into the tower of ember for the first time.
Sitting at 1.9 billion at the great gate. Here's hoping that game 144 will be my lucky game that sees it through to the end.
All the HoS art in the art stream inspired me to pick up the game again.

Let me know when you get to 2 billion points, I'd love a copy of that saved game if you can.

I don't know HOW y'all play on this difficulty...
I'm playing on Brutal, and just died with no chance to save myself in the Nordhall ambush. The first one in the zone. Screw this, I'll stick to having fun and not bothering with even trying NM. There must be some sort of narcissism involved here...
That being said, SO MUCH respect for those of you able to pull it off.

En1gma there's a trick to the nordhall ambush. Stay un grouped. Move all your squishy as far left as possible without exiting the map and move your tank to the ambush trigger

For a long time, I've wanted to post up a good score to the Nightmare Ironman ladders. This is challenging because of my job But seriously, I play a lot of Heroes of Steel, but mostly around new story, story bugs, or in test games. I have tried 10 times since the leaderboards were released 2 years ago to take a group to the top, and 8 of them have died in Episode 1 Act 1 (sloppy play, Ratkin ambushes, over confidence), one has died at the Gatehouse (Kjartaaaaaaan!) and the 10th one is finally running up the charts. I am at the start of Episode 2 - cleared the storerooms and the Krete handily, no issues in either area. Now ... where to go from here? I'd usually go to Granthorn to get armor. I am tempted by the Orcin caves. The group is Kincaid, Kjartan, Tamilin, and Fyona. Fyona is leading on XP big time and is the biggest killer in the crew. The group is a new strategy for me, consistent of Kincaid tanking (Live by the Blade, Sure Parry, Cunning Footwork), Kjartan (Pureflame Shield, Choking Ash only), Tamilin (Torrent of Steel, Blacknight, Deadly Intuition) and Fyona (Righteous Ferver, Zealous Strikes). I am focused on Constitution, the right mix of Skills and keeping my Talent count low. Invested 1 point is good buffs like Shield of Cortias and Flanking Unity, but not taking them higher. All heavily focused Buffs point toward major armor totals. All Buffed, Kincaid has 91 Armor and 32 Elemental Resistances. Even Kjartan has 52 Armor. Happy that monsters are still hitting for -0 Dmg, but that is starting to slip away a bit. So far, the team has been very tough, never having a single real death scare, and with CA + Torrent of Steel they kill very quickly to help with that. I am worried about the Orcin because Tamilin has a hard time getting the -AP curse out fast enough and they really like their mobs and really hard hitters, not sure even the high armor will be enough right now. How often do you get to give game advice to the creator? ;P I'm now #7 on the Ironman Leaderboards on Google Play and hoping to keep forging ahead! P.s. lol, this took me 3 months of playing occassionally on my phone. So, not going anywhere fast here!

To me the prime choice would be reckoning to take a little pressure off Tam and give Fyona some AoE - ZS followed by one or two group reckonings, Tam hitting ToS on the same or further targets depending on cursing and positioning needs. The damage cursing also improves armor's efficacy a bit. Seems like that is probably the best for your next strategic step staying roughly the same course, doubling down on existing strengths. I can't see anything else having as great as impact for just 1 talent point, and no extra ap (might even save some ap due to Fyona going AoE) per fight for your current build-out.
My 2cents.

Yeah, I do need to look at Reckoning. Hadn't really been thinking about it. I have the Moonstones for a Respec, so I might take that plunge soon with Fyona. She has Zealous Strikes 4, so I'd love to be able to move right to Reckoning 4, but I have to study the SP cost.

Nightmare Ironman seems to be almost as much about luck as great builds and careful play. I've gotten a group through episode 1 with no deaths that ended up parked because it wasn't really coming together like I wanted. Got that far because of care and getting good spawns. My current group is much better, good focus on Talents, getting great gear and by the time I cleared the Storerooms had half a dozen deaths mainly due to bad luck. Example Selen opens locked door and is met by an Orcin and 4 Archers who all land multiple hits. Went back with fresh spawn and Orcin was on far side of room and there were no archers. Kincaid died twice in throne room thanks to Baron landing crits. First time Baron hit crit then second hit landed, retry turn and 3 archers hit Kincaid then Baron lands 300+ point crit, retry turn and Kincaid takes no damage as all attacks either miss or get blocked. Pure bad luck and nothing I could do about it.
I play the game on nightmare for the challenge, but Ironman would be too much work and take a lot of the fun out of the game as I'd be forced into trying to build and play much differently.

You still have about 2-3 levels before you need to worry about orcs seriously. Granthorn is not going to offer much in the way of armor for Kincaid and you will need avoidance for orcs. I usually clear the Krete to the south first (not the quest, just the area) then do the wetlands. The ratkin there are awful to fight at later levels and so I handle them early. This gives me a couple stabs at chests for 3 parry and 3 dodge items (boots of the seductress awesome, to a lesser extent the capes with crit or health). With 2 of those items you should be blocking consistently for orcs. I would clear out Crag's peak as I found some pretty awesome light armor there and the weapons will up your killing potential fast. Clear out the prospectors path to eke out that experience and try to get as many talent points as possible. While you may not like it, a couple points into SoC will really help against the orcs. You do not want any of those spears connecting, they do too much damage. If ToS is not at -2 AP level I would get it there, so valuable against berserkers and trolls, not to mention shamen. I just finished that area in my game and I can tell you if you can be 21-23 when doing it that is an extremely powerful time for characters. 24-27 is a significant power dip till 30 because of stat distribution (the mobs also gain a double level at about 25-26). I like to be in the underforge for those levels as everything there is capped so I do not suffer from the power dip. Make sure to always stay back for the Orc caverns, a bad shaman spawn or berserker spawn that you are not ready for is almost 100% loss. Side note, I really feel righteous fervour does not play to Kincaid's strength which is avoidance. I tried it and this is the point where you start to notice that its armor cannot make Kincaid into a Vraes, food for thought. This also frees Kjartan from pureflame shield to some MS which will serve you better (IMO) against the high damage that is going to be heading your way.
