As an add on idea
A map maker for players to make there dream maps and general enemy starting possibilities.
Ie pick layout number of planets etc.
The player should be able to save maps locally and also send them for consideration into the main game
Or autogenerator of maps based on certain inputs. Ie number of planets number of resources number of enemies etc.

A map maker and / or random map generator are much sought after features, I think!
I would like to see them, so the spawns and planet locations didn't become predictable, but in order to justify this I'd like to see some sort of story mode / progression through the hand-made prebuilt maps. Where you start off with the tutorial map, meet certain conditions and gradually progress on to the harder, larger ones. Maybe tie in some achievements with that too.
Then you'd have the separate sandbox with either custom built maps or made pseudo-randomly from a set of modification factors (size, number of planets, resource availability etc) tied to a seed that the random generator would work from.
Including variables such as minimum planet distance relative to each other, and minimum distance to spawn from the hostile (s) would alleviate most problems of clustering.

Thanks for the posts. We will prioritize the additions to the game based on what the majority of players are asking for in reviews, e-mails and forum posts.
We've made a quiet a few games now and we're slowly learning what works in theory vs. what actually works in finished product and we'll be applying that to ST 4X as much as possible to produce the best game we can.
I'm happy to take map suggestions in terms of size, density, number of planets and resources if there is something you feel is missing from the current maps.
At some point we may cooperate with members of the community to build additional maps using the map making application. That map making application is a desktop application, not something that can run on Android, however.

Id add ship designs to the pot, if that were entirely possible in the future
Colony ships look to much like fighting ships for instance, and maybe ship themes from popular scifi shows...enterprise, whitestar, milenium falcon, stargate, firefly....lol, just an idea

We're certainly working on new ship designs. We spent a lot of time getting the ships to look close enough to each other in design to fit within the same fleet concept, but be distinguished enough to be easily visually identified.
Definitely not an easy task, and holding ourselves to that same quality standard does add some time and cost to the production of addition ship lines, but they are coming soon.
However, I can promise you that we will NOT use ship themes from popular and copyright protected sci-fi shows. =)
