I need some help here please. I have 2 games stuck here. I tried several tactics including trying to outrun enemies to destroy the power points. Many deaths later, each time I restore, I'm met at the stairs by a horde of enemies and die instantly.

@jxzero - we can definitely provide a wealth of tactical advice.
1) What difficulty are you playing on? 2) What is your group? 3) Do -not- run around too much, you'll trigger additional fights. You need to kill the group as best you can, keep Vurnak busy, and then move on.

My two games stuck here are easy and normal. Standard party. My party convinced me to run for the foci, thus spawning new enemies. I want to start the battle from the beginning because each time I come down the stairs, there are 20+ enemies right there waiting and I get killed before I can do anything. I spent many many hours getting to this point and dread having to go back to the start again. I just want a fresh try at the maker.

@jxzero - I can see your point, that it has gone so-wrong that it basically unbeatable. It's basically because of the fights you've triggered and the spawners.
I will consider how to work on resolving this for you ... we've never had anyone else report getting so stuck here that it couldn't be beaten.
Do you get the first turn if you go down?

I got stuck exactly like this with my first run through. Combination of triggering too much and poor group design before I figured out the power of buffs and debuffs, and how to properly use and take advantage of them in this game. Also, i SD run out of potions and money. Honestly, I had to restart, but glad I did because my group now is so much more fun and effective. I understand the gravity of having to do that and not wanting to though. Maybe if there were a way to redistribute Skill points and/or buy gold?

@jxzero - are you also completely out of gold? p.s. have you read this starter guide? It might help with something you could consider - steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=297611578I am looking into how we could provide a way to "reset" that entire battle, but there is so much story state wrapped up in it, that may take some time to figure out.

One thing to look at might be the dialogue at the beginning of the fight. It seems like there is some encouragement to "not get pinned down." Which suggests (to me at least) that you need to keep moving quickly and maybe not kill off all of the enemies, just get to the foci! But that is exactly the wrong advice for this fight. You actually need to proceed carefully and take out each group in turn. Maybe there is a way that your characters could give you a little better tactical advice.
Selen: I can see guards stationed all over this cavern at the different foci. We need to move and fight strategically so we don't stir them all up at the same time.
Vince: Yes but we've also got to figure out how to keep Vurnak from closing in behind us at the same time.
This won't help the guy who's stuck now, but it might help others not do the same thing.

contributor - thanks for the suggestions - these will definitely help. The dialog is dangerous, agreed.

Yes, on the normal game which is my best build, I die in first round. My easy (first build) I get a turn to do something. Why can't the restore function bring us back to the start of the fight?

@jxzero - that is what I will look at trying to implement. It's just not simple. We finally worked it out for the battle at the gatehouse, so that you get a fresh start if you fail. But, its complicated We'll keep working on it.

It might be a bit brutal on your ego but as long as you can kill one monster before being wiped out, one you restore at the camp you should have one less monster to attack. It might take a few goes but sooner or later that mob will get worn down.
That is if the restore option works the same as it did a few months ago..

vdx - yep, it woudl work that way. The critical thing would be killing the summoners ...
