I find my self running out of population space earlier after the newest upgrade and my 5 quality planet with 3 housing 4's and a orbital habitat 2 was quickly filled to the brim with population after the newest updates, before I could manage to research terraforming and higher level habitats. I was wondering if there was someway to make it follow a flow pattern in line with either researched technology or in game time so that it is easier to keep up with the demand for housing? Also, it would be nice to know what a individual planets max population was so I could construct an appropriate ammount of housing and save some money on the cost of extra housing (if possible ofc.)

Population is a very odd thing. I have a lot of high quality planets that never fill out properly due to low population. It's especially frustrating when it's low minerals!
Suggesting RESORT PALACE FESTIVAL that attracts people or TOURISM SUMMIT or who knows lol

Just so you're aware, population code hasn't changed in the past 10 or so updates.
So saying "latest update" tips me off that you're having a bad run or Colony balance is a mess in the Empire.

Suggesting RESORT PALACE FESTIVAL that attracts people or TOURISM SUMMIT or who knows lol I am working on that, but have to be very careful. So much work has gone into perfecting the population equations and I want to be absolutely certain that we don't ruin the gameplay by forcing the player to try to constantly shuffle (or worse, ship!) population around. This game is designed around the central tenant of the Factions as independent states within a coordinated empire. That is what makes the game different and will remain the driving force behind all design and balance decisions we make.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it's 'broken' or 'unbalanced'. No change is necessary here, honestly, as every situation can be adapted to. It just feels a bit different that with so many things being micromanaged by the user, that population feels totally out of control.

Odd, my quality 5 planet is getting very overpopulated, after being at a standstill at 9 or so for a long time it it's now at 19 population it hadn't grown for about 150-200 turns and in the ~100 turns after the update it has exploded population wise... So I thought that maybe the population cap was raised then? But I guess it's just been a bad run with population gains then hehe

I do wonder though what exactly causes pop growth etc. Also, I miss the days when pop growth shows up on events- that would be very helpful for me.
