I don't remember getting an increased activity message for this, but I'm not 100% sure. Playing the long/narrow map with 2 xenos on hard
So there was considerable amount of xeno ships around their nearest colony on the right front, a 100 or so turns before I got scan 3 and took a peek for funsies. (I know because before they settled said system, they swarmed and took out my templar explorer) x(
The next turn after my scan their ships entered faction space. No worldkillers or anything, just a few torp and gun xeno.
Was it just a coincidence or did my scanning have some effect on xeno behaviour? My scan ship was a little closer to the xeno than my other ships, but still in green space.
I also had some increased/decreased messages before this event with nothing actually happening, which I suspect is a distance/difficulty thing, because those xeno worlds we're settled long ago and they were just sitting there.

I don't know if its coincidence or not but I've had that happen twice before; aliens went crazy after I scanned them.

I don't ever remember the message when I go on recon missions behind the lines here. However I do expect they "acknowledge" my existence. Whether they give chase or not depends on where I catch them. My usual practice is marking couple of xeno systems and run.

warhog - you can rouse the xenos to activity in many different ways. If you don't want to tangle, don't poke the bee's nest

Yeah I usually don't scan after finding where the xeno are, you know they are there, you know they're nasty and want to eat you. This time I took a look cause there was an ominous calm on their side. I was getting worried that they are secretly building a higher rating fleet than my current defense squadrons could handle. Seeing those ships coming at me was actually a relief this time.
Also the crews aren't constantly dipping in to the water-fuel out of boredom
