Commission target vs. actual enemy

I have a commission Cadari vs. Kaihmer:


I'm about to sink that miserable Kaihmer rat:


Ooops... Instead I have to fight Ruesland ship, which means losing Ruesland reputation and rank:


Of course I can also escape, which means commission failue & losing Cadari reputation...

This is very disappointing. I expect facing with Kaihmer ship when being commissioned against Kaihmer... Especially if you read: "be watchful for Federation of Kaihmer, who will try to stop us from completing the commission". I'd never take commission against my own nation if I knew.

Do you have similar feelings?

OK, thanks for the explanation. I wouldn't say I dislike challenging situations, the problem is there's no good solution - you lose reputation no matter what you do.

If you look... the very first turn usually gives you an option to salute if thats an option. I think it has to do with avoiding accidental presses.

Yes, but my job is to capture a criminal. I think commission will be failed if I salute, but I'll check that.
