This is a great game so far.
I am curious to everyone's thoughts on the in game music. It's not bad but it gets old very quickly (I have about 4 hours playing time so far-- if it changes then I am not aware of it yet) . Yes, I understand I can turn the music off but I dont want too!
I was always a fan of the shadowrun genesis music and how they changed music depending on location and event. Perhaps doing so would add a new dimension and feel? Having the main sound track playing all the time is way redundant. Maybe even no music in certain areas but you have environmental ambient sound affects. IE: rain, wind, sound of crowds, busy clubs, cars, ect.. Fallout II did a pretty good job of that which really added to the depth of the game and the overall game universe.
Keep up the good work guys, great great game so far!
cheers

I've got to admit that in 99.9% of all games that I've played I always turn the music off. Music has it's place, this I understand. But it adds nothing to a game, just me I guess.

@flashdealer -- I'm willing to invest more in music. I already coded in support so each map could have it's own music. Just tell me which ones you like: soundtrack.imphenzia.com/music.php

I love music in a game, it's generally underappreciated. But these days I don't get to listen as it disturbs those around me. Odd...I can take it with me everywhere, but I cannot listen to it.

I think some games (especially nintendo games(shadowrunner is for super NINTENDO enterntainment system))have music as a very important function to add depth to the game. It would be good to have that function, maybe elite edition would add more music, the free one have only one,and a mini version for smaller devices.

I would love to, but sound atm is out of order. I'll try to remember to review it tomorrow.

@cory Trese wow, there's a ton of music on that list. I will need to spend some time and go through them all. IHMO- I really think that heavy percussion should be used with caution. Especially considering the devices you are developing for. I am a fan of more ambient subtle music where you can hear the synths and sound effects. It should just be enough to be noticed, add to the feel of the game universe, and not annoy the user. Your game changes locations, scenes, and conditions. IMHO the music should change with that. Also, I think that people are more inclined to turn the sound off when you have a full featured songs playing. (drums, bass, ect..) Really it's the environmental effects that you should hear relative to the location in the game. IE: downtrodden neighborhood should have a dark/grimy atmosphere. Where as a Corporate mega city (mars, renraku, ect..) would have more of a "progressive, entrepreneurial, somewhat clean (as in the city is some what clean) and perhaps slightly corrupt atmosphere. Matrix would have a matrix, chipped out, micro, digital / analog environment. Clubs and bars might have something specific to them. Along with combat. Anyways, if the New Boston is a beaten down "last city" with big brother always looking down onto them -- the music should not always be an adventuring / action theme. just my opinion. Below is a list of some tracks that I like. Nonex Shooter Level 01 - Slow NoPerc NoBass Loop Where Is The Monster - With Scare Loop Tribal Warfare - (if you had this without the percussion it might work somewhere. Imphenzia - Sector Intro Alien Ambience One - loop (might be too dark) Here's some great fallout II tracks and one I like in particular www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0UrrVfYLBc I will post some more later. cheers!

Anyway we can have our own music play? If I could, I would like to have pistolero by Juno Reactor play when I get into a gun fight!
