I have one question. The description says that it increases accuracy after closing maneuvers. But I never do closing maneuvers before firing torpedoes, because it is long range weapon. Does not it contradict? Am I not facing my target with ship's prow when combat starts? OK, it is two of questions . Any thoughts?

Closing Maneuvers by you OR the enemy Captain. Prow batteries are great for the fighting style that involves moving between Long and Medium Range.
in ST RPG combat Range variance has many effects.
Say you fight a lot of Pirates and Bounty Hunters, and use aggressive tactics.
On the first round you can expect them to Advance/Close -- so if you have a Prow Lance your very best bet is to open the conflict with a Torp.
In fact, with a well placed spread the Captain can both reap the benefits of the Prow Lance, hit the target and maintain Long Range with the Sails test. All in the skill of the Pilot tho.

That all makes sense. Thanks for insights.
