That must suck big time. I won't really recommend using an explorer to achieve this award if you're planning to use him/her for long.

Awww, now you've just set me a challenge ... to take an explorer to -121 in all factions and then come back to positive territory. Two of my oldest (defined by number of turns) captains are/were explorers. One was played for tens of thousands of turns on Crazy level. They are definitely characters that can survive the challenges of the later stages of the game. In saying that, my most common Impossible difficulty character is a Spy, because the starting attributes for Pilot, Tactics, and Stealth. For me, that gives me an infinitesimal edge in an otherwise unforgiving galaxy.

Im going to attempt again as a spy but im still unsure of the officer stats and what they bring to the table. Mainly the pilot officer and the alien hunter. I usually use mech, spy n smuggler if i cant find the merc

My 3 main officers are Political, Mechanic, Pilot.
If I am being more aggressive, I replace the Political officer with a military officer, and if I am hunting aliens, the political officer is swapped out for the Alien Hunter.
When I was predominantly Explorer, I used Political, Mechanic, Scout.

Ehkamp, or Doc Liz, has been through several moves with her husband and I think she's a very busy doctor. We're still trying to get that last push together for the manual as well =)

It's kinda sad remembering some of the regulars of months gone by. Cory, I think you should abuse Old Alchy until he returns and tries TA. He'll love it for sure

On my smuggler Explorer I SAS positive with only java at one point and minus 600+ with all the syndicates I found that participating in spy wars was the best way for my captain to get positive rep I went from - 800 to with DE valtos to positive rep with them in about 10 loads of wf on my game on crazy while also making a profit!

Hey bigredsmurf, welcome to the forum. You managed to pick out one of the oldest threads to resurrect Using Surveillance with a spy war, and Blockade with a solar war is an awesome way of getting a faction to like you again. I've gone from negative thousands of RP back to positives within a relatively short timeframe just because of that. The old adage though of "Don't piss everyone off until you've got the skills to shoot back" is really important though, because if you've annoyed lots of factions and you take damage every combat, you're not gonna last long in the quadrant

Yep if your gonna first post might as well necro post! And yes keeping most as allies is a way easier way of prolonging your captains life, but where is the fun in that. Gun buns for days!

Do not anger alliances too early. You will either run out of money repairing or a miltary/bounty will come after you that is much higher level... might as well shoot yourself out the airlock. These guys have helped me a lot.
