Maps and Journals don't take any cargo space, but when there's no free cargo space, you can't buy/take them:  1.1.41 |

I've found that too... though I simply thought they did end up taking cargo space.

BTW... I've gotten around this by having at least one (1) open cargo slot. If I have that, I can get all the maps, etc. that are available (though only adding one at a time bc of the cargo space limit). It somehow decides you can add however many so as to not go over space, but once you do so, it doesn't take it off the space capacity, allowing you to just keep doing it. When done, I go back and pick up the 'real' thing to occupy those last spots.
