I think I have mentioned them before, but I it must have been a while ago and I've forgotten what I've written. Actually there are three wishes to do with combat. 1) IF in an encounter, an enemy ship ATTACKS you (that is, you try and leave the encounter, but they advance and/or fire, and you are forced to defend yourself. THEN you should NOT get faction penalties by factions allied with the enemy's faction. If the enemy is stupid enough to push a fight on you, then you can't be held accountable. 2) IF you're in combat, PLEASE have an option where the enemy captain surrenders. They should be able to surrender if: a) they are at a severe disadvantage vis a vis your ship (damage, crew, etc) b) your reputation is that you DO NOT destroy ships even after combat (<50%) c) they are a non-aggressive type captain (merchant, explorer, etc) Advantages of surrendering, their ship doesn't need to be disabled for you to capture. If you choose to destroy/salvage their ship after they surrender, that has a STRONG influence on whether future captains surrender. 3) If you have an encounter, have another option that is "Threaten". If you threaten an enemy captain (before battle stations), there is a chance that a) the enemy captain will surrender (see #2 above) b) the enemy captain will retreat (encounter is counted as non-hostile) c) the enemy attacks (business as usual) The #1 request is the biggie though because stupid alliances with Steel Song mean I end up accidentally annoying my friends when CLEARLY the other guy hit first.

Yeah I know. For a time the cadars were aiming for me because of their alliance with clan javat.

I agree that #1 should be implemented in the future. I have always hated being attacked by a friendly ship during an alliance only to lose rep for defending myself. I think it should be the other way around, you get + rep because they broke the truce. The TB's however have a lot on their plate right now. I want my ST2.
Hey! There's another song!
I want my I want my I want my ST2

No not a derail on page one, especially on such a good idea.

It's not a derail, I agreed with and seconded a part of the main post. This was if nothing else, just a small track slip going around a curve.
