It might be interesting in star traders 2 to be able to drop extremely heavy explosives to really make an impact during a solar war. Absolutely ridiculous reputation changes but it makes the bombarded group send a much higher level ship than normal to attack you. The bombs are loaded in your cargo bay and are more restrictive by requiring military rank as well a trade permit.

I want the ability to sterilize a planet .... literally wipe every single living creature off the face of that globe. I'd never use the power though - well only with Steel Song, and only because they deserve it. Probably it's not such a good idea because even in the factional universe that is ST, I'm sure there are crimes about blatent genocide. Shhhh, please delete my posts on me killing Steel Song constantly ...

Even with a hive ship full of those (hypothetical) bombs I doubt you could completely wipe out a planet. Suddenly megaton comes to mind...boom. The karma system in the other thread would work well for that. Or perhaps you have a label as a genocidal monster and the price on your head is so high that it gains the attention of more dedicated bounty hunters that will chase you anywhere. Or maybe assassins occasionally infiltrate your ranks depending on how much you do it. Maybe I should sleep because my thoughts are going incoherent.

IMO, the major problem you'll is that the bombs (powerful enough to wipe a planet) probably don't exist. The Templars would not allow any faction to research that. Correct me if I'm wrong but the technology in ST universe is more of a "use what is here even if we don't really understand how it works" than a "design what you need" kind. But surely Cory Trese would answer that better.

I agree ... to be honest, there should never be any weapon that can eliminate populations on a planet. Yes, there should be weapons that allow you to disrupt the planet, but then the planet should also have defenses as if any tom, dick, or slayernz can come in and annihilate a percentage of the population, people would get decidedly grumpy.

200 bombs against a city covered planet wouldn't cause too much damage. Plus there would be a missile denial system in place (they have more advanced technology in place) it is more of the thought that counts (you tried to bomb them.)

Kinetic Strikes...Reason why no one is dumb enough to seriously tick Javat off...in a universe where you can travel across the the gaps in space between stars in a matter of days, by far the most lethal weapon available is a rock...take a few large asteroids made up primarily of heavy metals, accelerate to a substantial portion of C and aim at planet. Can be done from well beyond detection range and with that much acceleration, your dead by the time you know your under attack.

I've been doing that for ages - but instead of rocks, I've been using Steel Song ships by towing them and releasing them at warp. Unfortunately they are so poorly constructed they disintegrate as soon as they start re-entry and all you get is a bit of a sparkly light show.

So you are actually giving Steel Song entertainment and making them happy? Man slayernz, your SS hate is slacking. It's like your warming up to them. Do you give Cadar light shows?

Hey, I take offense to your comments. I'll have you know that although Steel Song ships are made so crappily that they disintegrate on re-entry, but if they're packed with dirty radioactive materials, it just means the fallout cloud from the hundreds of ships I send planetward will cause Steel Song to start glowing at night! They'll save on electric bills yes, but they'll all have sleep deprivation because of lack of dark!

Attach engines to large asteroids and crash them into planets?
