I came up with an idea for a new resource/cargo/trade good:
Medicine: Vat-Pax is the most common medicine in the quadrant, and can be used to help heal anything from a minor scrape to lost limbs. Can be in high demand in disaster areas and warzones.
Can be used by a medical officer to heal the Captain
As described, the value of this resource would depend on local events, for example, if there is an accident (like when the star port is closed), the value would go up significantly, and value would be slightly higher if the faction is considered to be "at war" with another faction.
Once officers are introduced, this could be consumed by the medical officer or doctor to heal the captain. This would be a slightly cheaper and more convenient option to finding a doctor, at the expense of using one of the available officer slots and some cargo space.
This could either be an entirely new resource, or replace of the existing resources that doesn't have much use, such as plants or clothing.
What do people think?

This sort of ties in with what Beldax was talking about in his post "Medi Packs & Doctor", but considers the option of making it a trade good as well.

It makes too much sense to have this item, even if its just a regular commodity. I think it would be plentiful at the core, but worth alot more on the fringes.
