Welcome all Javati citizens, Independant Spacers, and Star Traders. Any other Great House delegates can wait in the waiting room, full of mud and rocks for them to play in while the grownups talk. Anyway, this is a thread for Javati discussion on the Community game run by johndramey . Anybody wishing to become a Javati citizen, just say so! Member List: Brutus Aurelius slayernzMajor decisions made so far: Settle Javat Prime on Excanium. Result: A nice starting world with 17 Quality and 20 Mineral. We started with 2 Population, which will help kick off our mining and industry! Link to main thread: startradersrpg.proboards.com/thread/9415/community-plays-star-traders-4x?page=1

Hmph. I was expecting as much.
I took the liberty of bringing a hull full of soaps and cologne. I feared the smell would overpower and suffocate much of your delegation. Best of luck, and remember- everything you export is but raw material for others to make beautiful. Thought you should know.

We are fully capable of refining and using our own metals. We just get a better profit selling them to others, then paying for workers to build it ourselves. Then, while you are in crippling debt from building all those fancy skyscrapers, we are living like kings.

Then, while you are in crippling debt from building all those fancy skyscrapers, we are living like kings. Yes kings in drafty rock piles with no running water (except from the holes in your straw roofs) and no electricity to light the place. Thanks for the tour, I'll thankfully be returning to civilization now.

Look, I'm more than happy to cut your nose off if it'll help you and your snivelly nose out. In fact, your nose might even feel better, being detached from a gigantic pompous ass. Brutus Aurelius I suggest we build a hab unit on Javat Prime, because we know it'll take some time to get up and running and we don't want to get overpopulated unless we can help it.

Updated the main thread with the current standings and some questions, might want to check it out. Although I will say that Clan Javat is pretty much in a good place, vote wise. You guys have the power to make or break the other houses' votes. I'd recommend reaching for your own gain

Brutus AureliusI hope that you will be able to review tomorrow's choices and carry the honor of Javat in your decision-making. I may not be able to check in tomorrow. We have a fragile alliance at the moment with the other houses, and I am hoping that they will remain as noble as their history.

Well, sadly no new red giants for us. The planets discovered have 2-20 Mineral ranges at most. However, it would be nice to have a high quality world to serve as a focus to our industry and defense, along with trade.
As for the question of research, I say we go for Starship 1, then move on to the Politics branch, then Hab 2, then Mines.
For the scouting, I say press on.

Javat, we are closing in on the voting deadline. Your vote is definitely needed, for without it who will know the true economic costs of plans? Shouldn't the other houses benefit from your collective wisdom?
Thanks so much for the participation, guys!

Javat Leadership, We have new information shared to us by the collective, outlining several things Potential Colonization Targets
1 - Tennath Minerals 5-9 / Quality 11-29 2 - Salveria Minerals 2-8 / Quality 7-25 3 - Galantia Minerals 2-20 / Quality 6-24 4 - Chalicstine Minerals 2-20 / Quality 2-20 5 - Ogvidissio Minerals 7-17 / Quality 4-16 6 - Leiwin Minerals 4-12 / Quality 7-25 7 - Hell’s Razor Minerals 2-20 / Quality 2-20
Unclaimed Anomolies Unclaimed Anomalies = 4
Research Possible Avenues of Research
Planetary Construction 2 costs 100 RP and will take about 17 turns. It gives us access to spice dens.
Starship Construction 2 costs 100 RP and will take about 17 turns. It gives us access to better reactors and some armor for ship designs as well as opening up the “Fighter” tech tree.
Thulun 2 costs 400 RP and will take about 67 turns. It gives us access to improved Thulunian palaces.
Javat 2 costs 400 RP and will take about 67 turns. It gives us access to orbital mining platforms.
Steel Song 2 cotst 400 RP and will take about 67 turns. It gives us access to improved Steel Song fortifications.
----------
So, same questions as always folks.
1 - What should I be building? Continue with the industrial plans, or shift over to Colony ships? 2 - If a colony ship is finished, who get’s what? Previous negotiations touched on this issue, but I need it ironed out in the event of a house finishing a colony ship. 3 - Next research? 4 - Anything else?
It seems Javat has consistently acted with honor, and will continue to do so as we progress through this initial phase of growth. I do believe that Clan Thulun will struggle to act with similar honor - our sources indicate that they are planning on stealing planets away from other factions irrespective of the need. If they do that, there is a possibility there will be some retribution from one or both of the other factions. That aside, I would hope that they still respect the might and capabilities that both Javat and Steel Song have to share for the common good.
To answer the four questions posed by the collective: 1. What should we build I believe that Javat should prioritize a colony ship (postpone any current building) After we complete a colony ship, we should be at a stage where we need to have another hab unit, or at least a factory. What do you think? I recommend a factory, so that we can generate CP for more rapid construction.
2. For the colony ship destination, the Javat colony ship should go to Hell's Razor. We shall leave the other planets to both Steel Song and Thulun to fight over. We've made suggestions to the leadership of both factions, and it is up to them who ultimately ends up with the planets. The RED stars seem to yield more productive environments for our faction anyway.
3. What should we research? Definitely Planetary Construction 2, followed by Planetary Construction 3. This is a simple case of need. We need to have some key infrastructure pieces - ALL FACTIONS need this basic infrastructure. If we do not get it, then clearly we will not have enough resources to construct the war ships should we encounter the Aliens. Getting things like Hab 2's, Spice Dens, and ultimately Mines 2 are a necessity - not a luxury. We cannot hope to survive this Winter without such infrastructure.
Signed - the Cat. No fancy title needed. I believe we earn respect and titles by our deeds.
4.

Torping slayernzAlso, a reminder that currently, it takes you 9 turns to make a colony ship, while it only takes Thulun four, and so I'd say we have a greater need. Neither we nor the people will let the alliance be hampered simply because of issues of pride between us.

slayernz lixxx235I actually disagree with us claiming Hell's Razor. We should take Galantia or Chalicstine. Both have the same potential mineral count, but have higher Quality. While we do focus on mining more, we do need an industrial center where our Star Traders can trade unhampered by the politics of the other Houses. Signed, The Warrior

Brutus Aurelius - very valid point. I defer to you in this decision as it makes the most sense. This means 1) We should build a colony ship, and then focus on factory then hab unit? 2) We go after Galantia because it has a good "central" location, and will soon be surrounded by Thulun/Steel Song worlds. We can continue to pump out cashflow for the alliance, but do so safely. 3) Planetary Construction 2, followed by Planetary Construction 3 lixxx235 JUST because you can build colony ships faster, doesn't mean your need is higher. It's like saying "I can load a gun faster, so I must shoot it more frequently". In saying that, we do need to secure our hold in the quadrant, and if it makes Thulun feel better, they can build more colony ships.
