So, I mentioned this jokingly in the kickstarter thread but, Is there a chance that Not everyone in the NBZ is... human? I mean, are there any mutants out there, or does MARS have any extraterrestrial or extradimensional contacts or higher ups? Or maybe even outside the NBZ? Are We Alone in 2217? Maybe it's not a presence widely recognized.
I technically got the idea sort of from Fringe, because it's set in Boston, last season is in the future, but Fringe aside there's plenty of fun speculation that goes on about aliens. in Star Trek first contact happens in 2063, over a hundred years before CK (although clearly a completely different story world and timeline. In the Deus Ex games, there are some mentions of aliens here and there, Area 51 being a "joint base between the US Military and an alien civilization."

@cyberogunicorn - the setting is 2217, Earth. There are no aliens, no non-human races, and no magic. It is not a cross-over world with ST.
However, the world is flooded with radiation and out of control nanites. Outside of the domes, human mutations (of the disgusting kind, not X-Men) do occur.

"Lies! Who are you working for? You can't hide the truth forever!!" ;D I understand it's not a crossover nor are there magic powers however I'll keep up my surveillance of MARS CORP just to be sure, they are a suspicious lot...

The wasteland is mildly radioactive but that's not what causes the mutation -- it's rampant exposure to nano machines.
You'll find humans mostly infested with nanites designed to host inside of a human or animal, but some industrial nanites have merged with wastelanders as well.
In the age before the collapse, there were nanomachines for everything -- working in toxic environments, auto-healing, anti-cancer, pro-cancer (assassination) and a million other things.
When the systems that controlled them, and the industries that maintained them, failed during the eco-collapse many of the swarms went feral and merged with, or incorporated, other types of nanomachines.
As you can imagine, this leaves those stranded in the wastelands very vulnerable to infection. True mutation does occur, but it is far less common than infection with nano.

Will it be possible to mutate your CK? I doubt it, but it could be cool…

If that is going to happen it would likely be a ck 2 thing. So there are nano machines for auto repair? What would happen if they were put into a drone?

So there are nano machines for auto repair? What would happen if they were put into a drone? Then I'd rather not fight against it, that's a given. Sent from my rooted Falcon -- I want "Cerberus: By Hatred Born" back!! ASAP.

So there are nano machines for auto repair? Yes. Medkits are nano-based; nano-ready armor/medkit combo makes the process automatic. It would level the playing field. MUHUWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Trust me chummer, you will need more than self reviving drones to level the playing field against me.

crackshotcerberus - Yer darn tootin'! However a self-repairing drone, or even some high-level corpies with nano, would make for some fun tussles.
