Now granted, I'm basically still just started in this game, but I am somewhat hard-pressed to see how anything other than Chaplain could be better than the selfsame specialty. How do you press the advantage with the other two classes of Captain?

@readyready16728 - are you looking for an explanation of how to use the advantage? The Exo-Scout +1 AP for moving is huge and constantly helps your Captain be a bit ahead of the curve. Makes him perfect for levels where you need to reach multiple objectives, as he can often make the run on his own - sword swinging and pistol blaring. Not to mention his ability to grant AP to other soldiers at any time in the phase, including during the defensive phases!
Ever run out of ammo on a soldier? The Naval Veteran is there to save the day.

I'm aware of what special abilities they have; it just seems like the ability to heal the wounded is that much more advantageous than the other two. Of course, I'm probably mistaken on some account.

readyready15728 - it depends a huge amount on your play style. I always play Naval Vet or Scout personally. I am good with my field of fire, so I am more worried about running out of ammo. The ability to give AP, even in the defensive phase, can save you from taking damage in the first place.

readyready15728 - also the Chaplain healing is great if the Templar survived the attack. If you let an enemy get in that close, its often immediate death, so the healing can't save you. An extra +2 AP in the defensive round could have.

I tend to use Neptune and Hydra on every level, so Naval is my choice for Captain profession.

Generally I find that if you like shooting, don't really care so much about missing as long as you kill your target, and don't like worrying about watching numbers, the Naval Captain is for you. If you ever consider running Berzerker's ever, like taking risks, and like the idea of having more soldiers survive for longer, the Chaplain is for you. If you like the run and gun/guerilla warfare style of play, like being defensive, or like a more hand's on approach, the Exo-Scout captain is for you. If you don't like any of the above, play 4X or Star Traders.

Hi. Last October Fallen was looking at adding a Chaplain as a class of specialist trooper. Is this still on the cards?

I scrapped my Squad on Normal difficulty and started playing a new one on Hard with Naval Veteran.
I can see how the early apparent advantages of the Chaplain might diminish as the Squad gains more XP and upgrades its equipment.

qbspy no, why? Haven't played TA for a while. I've been tracking the updates & there's been no mention of major changes where the knights are concerned. Am I missing something?

No, no bobc I didn't mean to excite you prematurely. It's just that I enjoy TA a lot, and saw that you played it for a while. Trese Brothers are very busy, and struggle to please us all in spite of their paltry wages. I don't speak for them, but have come to understand that they have big plans for all their titles, and do what they can with their time and money to achieve those plans. I bought my prestige to encourage greater development on TA. Maybe if a few other people do the same, they will be able to do a more substantial update to TA. I mean they are always updating, but maybe the update you were hoping for. You know? Gotta love these guys.

No dramas qbspy. I've been spending all my pennies on HoS so I'm a bit behind everywhere else. Trying to get into ST now so I don't look a chump for the ST2 alpha, so the next spend is the unlocks for that.

Haha. Nothing dramatic about five dollars. I think you'll love Star Traders. It's truly great. Seriously though, I want some beefier updates for TA. Hopefully they'll come.
